Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, that's unfortunate." Kenas says sympathetically.

 

"Thanks."
Voidfiller says, finishing up what he's writing, opening the envelope, putting the writing and a small jewel inside, and re-sealing the envelope.
"Everything's in here."
He hands the envelope to the guard.

 

"I'm sure most of them have learned to live with it. I mean, we've only been like this for a good two hundred and forty-ish." Mary shrugs, accidentally letting Ruin spill out.

The girl takes it.
"I suppose I'm also supposed to give you this." She grumbles, handing him a ring.

 

He takes it, fiddling with it a bit.
"What's it do?"

 

The bed melts a bit.

"Two hundred and forty? I...didn't realise you were so old." Kenas says.

 

"What do you mean? I'm the youngest sibling! I'm the only one left still in six figures!" She says, seeming offended.

"Lets you enter, so I don't have to hear you every time you come over."

 

"S-Six figures?" Kenas asks, shocked.

 

"Of course! I'm the only one who has yet to outlive a planet! And... a-and..."
Pause.
"...I'm sorry. That's probably really old for your kin, isn't it?"

 

"Thought so. Thanks."
Voidfiller nods, before putting the ring on, then dropping from the sky and into a newly-formed portal, which soon closes.

 

"I believe the oldest any of our kind lived to was six hundred and twelve years old, though their body had mostly shut down years before." The doctor says.

 

"Yeah... that's called infancy for my kind." Mary says, a bit nervous about it.

The beast stares, but soon ignores it and flies off.

 

"What exactly is your kind? Does time work differently where you come from?" Kenas asks.

"It is a shame you don't possess regular blood. I'd have liked to study your organs to see how they can remain functioning for thousands of years." The doctor says, disappointed.

 

"I am a draconian, and if you would like, I can call upon an uncursed individual." Mary offers. "And, our realities are very similar. Time should be the same; we simply outlive nearly every other mortal species."

 

Nothing comes out of the closed portal.

 

They leave it.

The three are left to their own devices.

 

"What do you mean? You called your friends?"

 

"Why is that?" The doctor asks.

 

"They're not my friends, I just needed more fire to be able to amplify my magic. I was able to reach out to them, and they said they'd help."

"Because we simply live long lives. I believe the average lifespan approaches thirty thousand on the low end."

Keila opens the letter.

 

"U-huh. I'm just glad you're alive."
He sits down.

 

"I can't really burn to death, but I might be able to heal some of your wounds." Anne says, small embers weaving between her paws.
As she steps closer...
"Eugh! Holy... you smell terrible!"
