"But she can be nice. I think."

 

"...Ruby."

"I assume she was rude to you too?"

 

I stay silent for a bit.

"...Shadow Stephanie was right. It was a mistake." I say, frustrated with myself.

 

"I can't believe you actually resurrected her." Emerald grumbles.

 

"I know..." I say, regret in my voice, "People don't change, they just modify their personality a bit. They're always the same at the core."

"It's kind of sad too, I think Abigail sort of looked up to Ruby in a sense." I add after a pause.

 

"That's... actually really pitiful on Abigail's part."

 

"She was a bit blunt, but she's alright. You just have to get to know her.. or something like that."

 

"So... do we just leave her alone and hope she does the same?"

 

"Yeah. I think it's because of Ruby's smithing abilities and resistance to fire that added to Abigail's liking of her. I just kind of wish they could have at least met again, though currently Abigail's sort of a mess that can't really answer simple questions without screaming." I say.

 

"Yeah, that's a good idea."

 

"I take it that means you got a fraction of her soul?"

"Alright... Well, we're going to see if we have any luck through a midnight hunt. You interested in coming?"

 

"Yeah, sure. Don't plan on doing any quests anyway."

 

"Half of it. Her heart and the rest of her soul is still trapped," I say, "All she can really do is sit around blankly and answer extremely basic questions every half hour."

 

"Alright. And, if you wouldn't mind, once you transform, it'd be great if you didn't scare off the prey this time."

"So, she can tell us her name is Abigail and that's about as helpful as we're gonna get out of her right now?"

 

"She can remember a few things, but not much. Myria's mostly taking care of her." I say.

 

"Ehe... Yeah." He smiles awkwardly.

 

"Does she know who killed her?"

"Great. We'll give it until midnight, let everyone rest up a bit. The dragon left you some berries and herbs, if you want a snack."

 

I shake my head.

"She barely even knows us at all." I say.

 

"I'll take some, thanks."
He grabs a few beriep and after that he rests for a while.

 

"So, you've got a recreated body and half of her soul?"

The berries are bitter, but filling.

...The ground seems a bit harder than usual. Maybe Sgavrinn's layer of plants did a bit more for your sleep than you thought.
