Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, I hope so."

 

Pause.
"I don't know how you put up with her, to be honest. She acts like she owns the place."

 

"So, do we actually need to be here for it? Or can we be somewhere else and have someone else trigger it?" I ask.

 

"You'll need one person here, but that's it."

 

"Anyone specific?" I ask, writing down a few notes.

 

"The only qualification is that it has to be someone Ihra would know."

 

"How knowledgable does Ihra need to be of them?" I ask.

 

"She needs to be able to recognize them on sight, and they need to be able to acknowledge her. Maybe even give her a hug, since she seems to like hugs."

 

I spend a bit of time writing down a few notes, drawing lines through some after and writing other notes in place of them.

"What would happen to the relics if something were to go wrong?" I ask.

 

"Well, she's a princess. What did you expect?"

 

"If something goes wrong, you'll be worrying about me trying to kill you instead of the relics - Avenging Xlentia is infinitely higher on my list of priorities than monitoring six powerful artifacts."

"If she's a princess, where's her escort and all that crap?"

 

"So you'd blame me even though I have no control over what happens? Are you saying you'd rather leave Ihra inside her heart?" I ask.

 

"She kind of.. ran away from home."

 

"I'm saying, if something goes wrong, Ihra and Xlentia are both as good as dead, and I'll see to it you and your friends are well aware of that... except, obviously, I'm hoping it won't come to that."

"...Why? She'd have an easy life and could get away with being smug."

 

"The risk of failure seems far too high to justify putting two highly important people in danger for." I say as I write down a few more notes, looking conflicted at one of them.

 

"Something with her parents I believe. Something like that."

 

"I'm just going to guess that her parents wanted a daughter that acted proper... and got that thing instead."

Emerald rolls her eyes, but keeps quiet.

 

"What? Clearly security isn't the best here if Abigail got killed without anyone knowing. Getting Ihra out of Xlentia's heart is a pretty big thing, people aren't going to let that opportunity slide." I say, before flipping over to another page and writing a few notes down, before flipping back.

Emerald can just catch "Cancel?" written on the page I've been taking notes on.

 

Emerald seems infuriated.
"Would you rather I open a portal that could swallow a realm hole in your palace?!" She asks, agitated. "This is the most secure place, and I already told you, Abigail's killing was an inside job that has since been resolved - completely and utterly through erasure."

 

"Who did it then?" I ask, unmoved.
