"We're both Shatters. Behavior means nothing to what we are."

 

"Well, what makes you both Shatters?"

 

"That's... hard to say. The basics are, we're illegitimate beings who represent Fragments."

 

I think for a few moments.
"Huh. Alright."
Pause.
"So you wanted me to get Shadow Stephanie?"

 

"Please. I need to talk to her about... more important matters than our relationship."

 

"Okay. I can get her here. Should I bring you up or not?"

 

"Yeah, just tell her I'm caught up with something but want to talk with her."

 

I nod, then turn and start walking back towards the library.

 

"Hey, one more thing." Sivius calls.

 

I stop and turn.
"What?"

 

Onyx shakes her head, trying to spell out 'Life' next to the circle.

 

"If you meet Vei's Shatter, run."

"I know you hate doing it, but can you turn into a catfolk so you can talk to me?"

 

Onyx looks around nervously, before changing into her human form, getting up before sitting normally.

 

"Sorry, it's just... I don't want to get frustrated by trying to comprehend cat."

 

Onyx's ears lower, looking sad.

"artemis wouldnt be mad at me beclaws its the circle of life. im not killing a lot of birds" Onyx explains.

 

"Okay, that makes sense. Sorry."
Pause.
"You can go back now. I really should be getting home..."

 

Onyx hugs Sapphire, purring.

 

Sapphire hugs her back, her usual worries swamping her expression once again.
"Hopefully I'll see you again on a day I'm not running behind." She sighs.

 

Onyx seems distressed by this, hugging Sapphire tighter.

 

Sapphire pats her on the back.
"...Don't worry about it."
