Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Dragons, how fitting."
Bardock decided to sit down and read it.

 

The book turns out to be written more for children, but you don't recognize some of the words.

 

I peek inside the hole, seeing how big it is.

 

Katie seems to be sitting on the sofa in the living room under a blanket, Artemis, still young, sitting next to her. The pair appear to be watching an animated movie about a couple of fish looking for another fish.

 

"Good..." Sapphire steps closer to Myria.
"Only problem is, there was some kind of glitch with the Immortality Protocol... and Abigail's struggling to recover from dying. We only could recreate her heart before something left her as a fleshbag of blood and stem cells..." She admits, shaken.

It's not wide, and barely raptor-depth.

 

"That sounds...problematic. Have you told Aj and the others?" Myria asks.

 

"I told Aj, and he cut me off and left." She says, worried.
"P-please don't kill me..."

 

"It works."
I say anyways.
"Thanks for the help."

 

"This is more difficult then I thought, and it's a children book."
Bardock tries to read it.

 

"Yeah."
They trot off, hygeine apparently not a concern.

 

"Why would I kill you? You haven't done anything wrong, and you're far from your time," Myria says, "Come, sit down and I'll make you some tea."

Myria closes the door behind Sapphire, heading into the kitchen after gesturing to an empty sofa in the living room.

 

You've now read it three times.
Maybe you should just consult a dictionary.

Still trembling, she goes over and sits down.

 

I look around for anything that I could put in the hole.

 

Fine.
Bardock goes back to where he found the dictionary.

 

Artemis glances at Sapphire for a moment before looking back at the TV.

Myria brings Sapphire a cup of tea shortly afterward, handing it to Sapphire.

"There's no need to be so worried." Myria says, smiling. Something about Myria seems calming to Sapphire.

 

You could put the dirt back in it... there's not really anything around.

"Yes, there is something. That something is a shadow named Aj." She says, pacifying herself with the tea.

Turns out the words are unneccesarily fancy synonyms.
Waste of twenty minutes of paging through a giant dictionary...

 

I carefully put the extra dirt around the hole, then carefully putting a gold coin inside.

 

"He's none of your concern right now." Myria says, sitting down next to Artemis and ruffling her hair.

The tea tastes minty and refreshing.

 

"Ugh.."
Bardock walks back towards the receptionist.
"Excuse me, miss?"

 

"Not right now..." She sighs, eventually falling asleep thanks to the tea.

"Yes?"

The ruin doesn't seem to affect the coin. In fact, there seems to be a shred of respite in the hole.
