Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Stephanie tries to imagine one of the monsters exploding, focusing on the monster.


I try running as far away from the fort as possible, seeing if anything new appears.

 

She... can't.
Better use the orb, fast. They're starting to surround her.


It seems that, the further you get, the less distance your effort covers.

 

Stephanie just tries throwing the orb at one of the monsters, desperate.


I keep on going, aiming to make my effort cover no distance at all to see what will happen.

 

It vaporizes, the swarm continuing to gain on her.


Nothing... other than you need to rest, now.

 

Stephanie tries creating another ball of light to throw at the monsters.


I lie down and take a nap, tired.

 

"Where are you going?"
Bardock still examining the fruits.

 

She ends up making a bigger orb instead.
It's only going to get harder from here, it seems.


You wake up suddenly to the sound of a horde of spider-like creatures.

"I'm not sure." She says, as Sgavrinn turns around and puts her on his back.

Pause.
"Do you want a vision, or not?"

 

Stephanie tries to create a massive orb instead, channelling her magic into it.


I yawn, heading back to the fort.

 

"Wait, your leaving?"

 

She succeeds, but her vision suddenly has white cracks in it, like a slightly broken screen.


You're easily able to outpace the creeps, and now you're back at the wall with an open entrance guarding nothing.

"What, you thought everyone flocked to me because they always know where I am?"

 

Stephanie tries to focus the light into a kind of laser to blast away at the monsters with, spinning it slowly.


I head through the entrance, curious.

 

She can focus it into a long blade, but only so that it goes double her height.
Spinning it quickly may be disorienting, but disorientation is a much smaller problem than dismemberment...


Inside, now that you're looking around, is still empty. However, there's a ladder on the interior of the wall - and it doesn't appear to be anchored.

 

Stephanie uses the long blade to dart into the monsters, leaping up afterwards and darting through them again to try and kill as many as possible.


I quickly try to ascend the ladder.

 

The deeper she goes, the harder it is to swing the blade through all of them...
Up seems the only way...


Unsurprisingly, you wind up on top of the wall.

 

Stephanie focuses for a moment, before slashing through any monsters above her and sprinting up the stairs.


I explore the wall a bit, looking below.

 

She makes it to the top, but it seems that the horde is coming up from every side of the temple.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, the only way to go from here is through the ever-growing swarm, or down the trapdoor at the center of the top platform.


Beyond the lip, is just ground. However, the wall here is a bit scratched.
The swarm of creeps are a fair ways off, but you probably only have a few minutes if they keep their pace.

 

Stephanie tries opening the trapdoor (if closed) / Stephanie jumps through the trapdoor, not bothering to think twice (if open).


I observe the scratches on the wall, curious.

 

"They come to you because of your powers."
(I might have misunderstood that sentence. Phrase it a bit different maybe?)

 

It's closed, but the moment she touches it, it opens...

She enters a freefall for a good minute, where something seems to scan her vision.
At the end, she falls into a deep pool.
If she hadn't taken a breath in preparation, she'll be wishing she did.


There's only one, and it seems to correspond with a slight nick in the ladder.

"No, they come to the island. I have to find them from there."

 

Stephanie desperately swims to the surface, trying to get air.


I go back and grab the ladder, before putting it next to the scratch.
