"Just trouble makers that hurt my friends and family."

 

"Well, if that's all of your questions..."
I scan the area, looking for Aj or someone that knows him.

 

"We're called Shadows because we take the forms of existing beings, but can't fully mimic them. I'm really a creature of darkness." Shadow Stephanie explains.

"We're also more powerful than your average Shadow hence why we're not burning up in the sun like an ant under a magnifying glass." I add, walking over to Shadow Stephanie.

 

"She's a... bit of a rogue, but she has a good heart."

"Ha! Told you!"
"Mmmnnn..."
The duo starts wrestling.

Aj and co. are behind you.

 

"Reminds me of our earlier days." Shadow Stephanie says, shaking her head.

"We still do that." I say flatly.

"Yeah, but we don't actually mean it." Shadow Stephanie says.

"That's true." I say, nodding.

 

I turn towards Aj.

"Hey."
I say to Aj, walking over.

 

"Oh, hey!" I say, smiling, "You have some pretty great timing, we've got some info on the last relic's location."

 

"So she's a princess?"

 

"Oh! Really? Funny, I just came to check on that."
I smile.
"What's the info?"

 

"Apparently the relic is sealed within a pair of eldritch tomes which need to be activated with the blood of their previous owner's parents." Artemis explains, walking over.

"We're pretty sure we've met the owners of the tomes before, since they're sort of dead now." I say.

"There was the girl who told me about the inhibitor, and the boy who was part of a house." Artemis says.

"I think you're forgetting the fact that after activating the tomes, a couple of us are going to have to let them overpower our minds so we can break the seal preventing us from snagging the relic." Shadow Stephanie adds.

 

"...That doesn't sound very inviting."
I comment.
"But I remember the house boy, he was pretty nice."

 

A mantis comes out, eyeing you down.
"You've returned? Is there something else wrong with the inhibitor?"

"Yes."

 

"It was sad that he had to die. Out of the two, he was the nice half." Artemis says sadly.

"People die, we live and carry on with out lives, whatever." Shadow Stephanie says, uncaring.

"No, we're actually looking for a couple of eldritch tomes." I say.

"We need them to get a relic!" Katie adds cheerily.

 

"Ah, yes. The raptors ate the dead kids, but the tomes should still be on the ramp to the lowlands."

 

"Yeah. It's unfortunate, but stuff has to happen. Do you know how the farm's doing, by the way?"

 

"Great, thanks." I say happily.

"Do raptors normally eat people?" Angela asks nervously.

"It should be fine, since I helped out with it. I haven't checked." Artemis admits.

"It'll be dead." Shadow Stephanie says, grinning.

 

"Should I apologise?"

 

"Alright, good."
I seem to ignore Shadow Stephanie's comment.
"Have you heard from Abigail yet?"

 

"Only dead ones." A few raptors say happily.

"That's up to you, not me."

 

"No, unfortunately. We've no idea where she's gone." Artemis says.

"She'll be dead." Shadow Stephanie says, holding back a bit of laughter.

Artemis glares at Shadow Stephanie.

"What? That's the only explanation. We've sent search teams for her practically everywhere, so she probably died and exploded which is why we can't find her corpse." Shadow Stephanie says.

Angela sighs in relief.
