Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

In the statue, you notice a place in the distance which looks like it could be the others.
"That's them. Now we'll just hang back a bit. But still... let's just remind them of something..."
He whispers something to the Drakonshade.
The Drakonshade goes into a slow glide. It then screeches loudly. The screech sounds a bit like a banshee, only bearable.

You suddenly hear a loud screech in the distance.
Eras immediately looks in its direction, even though the thing is too far away to see.
Idala, who was petting Aura, also looks in the same direction.
"Was that-"
"Yes.", he says grimly.
Idala looks in the direction of the screech for a few more seconds.
She then takes a few metal cubes out of a small bottle on her belt. She then starts feeding them to Aura.

 

Rineth looks in the same direction.
"What was that?"

 

"A Drakonshade. In fact, the same one which was a problem and was killed. It seems the robot resurrected it..."

 

"How and why would a Drakonshade be a problem? Not only would surviving away from your palace be problematic, but you're here too anyway."

I shake may head, quizzically.

 

"Oh no..."
I say, clearly worried.

 

"Oh fun. Probably still wants Ihra. I think, if she wakes up, we can have a surprise for it. Maybe."

 

"Weren't you still alive when it appeared? It shouldn't exist and is extremely dangerous. Luckily it controls dark powers but it is still a threat. And it seems that the robot revived it... of course... THAT Drakonshade."

"I think the robot and the Drakonshade don't want to come close yet. They're waiting for an opportunity to cause chaos, not to attack."

 

"I wasn't expecting him to talk; the fact he can hum his name is quite amazing." I say, smiling.

I re-summon Shadow Katana on my back and draw it.

"This'll be fun." I say, looking toward the Drakonshade with determination.

"Aj, I think your girlfriend wasn't exactly happy at her rude awakening," Abigail says, dropping from her tree and pointing towards Artemis.

Artemis floats toward us, bow readied, a trail of flowers and other plantlife growing in her wake. Artemis' eyes and hands glow green.

"Also, could I have my armour?" Abigail finishes.

I summon Abigails armour in front of her, which she puts on over her casual clothing.

The three of us assume an offensive position, glaring up at the Drakonshade.

 

"I suppose I'll show them that distance doesn't matter."
Riihs prepares to jump at the pair.

 

"And good luck to you as well. Hopefully that doesn't happen."

For a split second, darkness engulfs you and you're standing outside the mage tower.

Avis slows down to a walk, and they soon reaches the plains. Avis raises her wings uncertainly. She jumps up and tries flapping her wings to keep herself aloft, hovering for a few seconds before landing again.

 

OOC: It's too far away to see but near enough to hear it screech.

It doesn't seem like the Drakonshade is coming nearer, as it doesn't come within seeing distance. Once or twice you imagine a tiny speck on the horizon but it could just be your mind playing tricks on you.

Riihs doesn't need to jump.
Three green bolts fly through the air so fast that all you see are the flashes as they hit their target.
One whizzes past Aura and Idala.
Another flies past Ihra.
The third lands right in front of Aj.

 

"Spicy!" I say, not even moving.

"Is Artemis the only one following the plan here?" Stephanie says from nowhere, disappointed.

"Oh, right." I say.

I summon a blue helmet and pass it to Abigail, who switches it for her Flame Guardian helmet. I then summon two white rings, slipping them on my ring finger each hand. My body inverts in colour as I transform into a Light Creature.

 

I start walking in the direction the mage pointed.
"Reflet, everything alright?"

"Avis, try getting a running start. It's hard to hover, gliding's a bit easier."

"Well, two can play the game of lightspeed."

The robot quickly finds a blur of a draconian coming down fast at him and the Drakonshade with a halberd.

 

"Time to get warmed up!"
I raise my gauntlet into a fist, and it starts to glow.
"I've always wanted to see how far I could go."
I vanish.

 

"I sensed a dark presence pass over Brisingr and towards No Mans Land earlier. I couldn't enter their minds for whatever reason. Other than that, no."

Avis does as you suggest, gliding over the fields a fair distance.

 

"Look, I want to help, but I need to know how I can help."
I dive underground, still beelining for the mountains.

"Good job, Avis. Now, glide a bit and flap while gliding, see if you can get a little higher."
Xephyr scans the area for anything that might harm Avis.

 

"They're near Ihra's group right now. I don't know if they need help, honestly."

Avis glides and flaps, getting higher and higher.

The skies seem clear, but a faint rustle and the swishing of grass make the existence of a few foxes clear. They growl and stalk nearer from opposite directions.

 

"Not her, you."

"Girl, get back to my shoulder. Something's close."
A chilling pulse is sent as a warning.

 

"What I mean to say is that I'm only really worried about that dark presence. And it looks like that's Ihra's problem now."

Avis flutters back down to Xephyr's shoulder. The predators circle around like sharks before pouncing all at once, three orange blurs.

 

"I hope she'll be fine. She's strong for her age."

A dome of ice freezes around Xephyr as she raises a claw. Clenching a fist, spikes grow on the dome.

The ice is sturdier than it appears.

Throwing her hand back to her side, the dome explodes, launching ice spikes at bullet-like speeds around her.
