Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Uh..." Rineth utters, glancing at Stephanie.

 

Stephanie just looks confused.

"Would it be better if I spoke to you like this?" Praecantatia asks, appearing next to the group in a much smaller size, though still large; about quadruple the size of Artemis.

"Whatever works," I say, shrugging "Are you the person that's supposed to tell us about the relic?"

"You are correct, though I do have some extra information for Stephanie." Praecantatia says, looking at Stephanie with a smile.

"Me?" Stephanie asks, confused.

Praecantatia nods.

 

"Humans? Did Ragnyon forget to mention them?"
Pause
"Guess I'll ask her tomorrow. For now I won't investigate further for my own safety."
Bardock heads back to Ragnyon. Once there, he falls asleep.

 

"Oh, well. I'm not from here so I'm afraid I won't be of much help... though there is a library not far from here, tons upon tons of books, I often like to spend some time there." I say, staring at you through my mask.

 

Voidfiller just looks towards it, not glaring.
"What?"

 

Rineth smiles.
"You know, Emerald did tip me off a little bit... miss, you are Praecantatia, correct?"

It lets out a low growl before its rider diverts its attention, flying off.

"Ah, thank you for the tip. I apologize for startling you." She says, meeting your gaze for a moment.

The forest is mostly silent, but Sgavrinn seems to hum instead of snore, which wakes you up twice...

By the time you wake up, only Sgavrinn is awake, and he keeps growing flowers just to eat them after smelling them.

 

"Correct. Did she also inform you with the information regarding the relic to make sure I was accurate in what I delivered?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"Only parts." Rineth nods. "I can always confirm with Emerald later, worst case scenario."

 

Voidfiller flies off as well.

 

The skies are clear, no other large creatures flying about.

 

"Well, I should get on with the explaining then," Praecantatia says, clearing her throat and turning to the group, "The final relic you seek lies within a realm hidden inside two eldritch tomes. These tomes belonged to a pair of children who are unfortunately dead, however you should be able to activate them using the blood of their parents. Once you've activated these tomes, the two most psychically strong of you must allow the tomes to overpower your minds so you may be able to access and explore the realms within. You need to deactivate the barrier preventing you from accessing the relic at the same time; if one of you leaves the realm, it shall be reset. If you are to fail, you shall be consumed by insanity, your mind corrupted, and you will most likely die."

The group stays quiet for a bit, taking the information in.

 

Rineth nods.
"The only detail you seem to be missing is that these are found in Maralune."

 

"I wasn't informed of that," Praecantatia says, "Did Emerald inform you of anything else?"

 

"The only other thing is that she told me those who let the tomes consume them will need to be watched. They'll lose their sensory of the real world."

 

Voidfiller flies back to the portal, going to the Void Palace.

 

The portal room has a single draconian - Linoa.
"Huh? Haven't seen you here before." She mumbles, closely reading the portal labels.

 

Praecantatia nods.

"So...what was the information regarding me?" Stephanie asks, curious.

"Well, Stephanie, you may not believe this, but I am your mother. Your real mother." Praecantatia says with a smile.

The entire group seems shocked, Stephanie especially.

"Get outta here." I say, disbelieving.

"That can't be true, can it?" Katie asks.

"Actually, it does sort of make sense. She was able to summon and bind me to a contract all by herself, even I was wondering how she did it." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Years ago, when you were born Stephanie, I had to give you away. It was heartbreaking, but I was told to put you up for adoption on Earth, so that you could have a happier, more human life. I regretted doing that the moment after I sent you away, but I did send a gift with you. One of my magical tomes, my first tome, studying and researching magic and it's many forms, which I can see you've kept. I was told not to see you, so you could live a normal life, but I just couldn't. I've spent my time these past few years searching for you, and now you can finally come home. Stephanie, as my daughter." Praecantatia says happily, kneeling down and holding her arms out for a hug.

"No. You're not my mother." Stephanie says flatly, a grim expression on her face.

"What?" Praecantatia asks, confused.

"My mother would've cared for me, she would have at least looked into where I went after I was adopted to make sure I went to a family that would love me as much as she would. You just abandoned me in an orphanage and thought nothing more of me." Stephanie says grimly.

"B-But I-" Praecantatia tries to say.

"Did you even care about who adopted me!? Did you ever take a moment to look into my life after you abandoned me to make sure I was at least happy!? No, of course you didn't, because then you would've have the common sense to at least check who adopted me and wouldn't need to spend your time looking for me, because they'd tell you where I'd gone!!!" Stephanie says angrily.

"W-Well-" Praecantatia stutters, looking hurt.

"I was adopted by a cruel family who beat me, made me think I was a worthless human being who should never have been born! I spent the first fourteen years of my life locked up in a jail cell of a room, only allowed out for one hour a day so I had some sense of freedom! Did you ever stop by, maybe to announce this news earlier or get me a nicer family!? NO!" Stephanie shouts angrily, rage in her eyes, "And you know what they did when they finally found me after I'd managed to run away? They locked me in my room with chains and had people do horrific, defiling things to me which even the strongest memory erasing spell can't undo the damage of!"

"I d-didn't k-" Praecantatia struggles to say, tears starting to well in her eyes.

"And did you ever for a single moment of my life care!? NO!!! Did you ever make an attempt to contact me, or show any sign that you were my mother and had any sense of love for me!? NO!!! So you will NEVER be my mother, because from the moment I was born, you didn't care about me or love me at all! You just threw me into an orphanage so you could get rid of me! You will never be my mother, I will never be your daughter, and I will NEVER LOVE YOU, BECAUSE YOU NEVER LOVED ME! I HATE YOU!" Stephanie shouts incredibly loud, rage and emotion on her voice as tears run down her face, before she runs off into the house.

"Stephanie!" Shadow Stephanie calls, chasing after Stephanie.

Praecantatia just stays where she is, kneeling, her arms falling to her side as tears begin to run down her face; her eyes staring into nothingness.

 

Rineth frowns, going after Stephanie as well.
Emerald also seems to appear and join the pursuit.

 

Stephanie slams the back door behind her and locks it, Shadow Stephanie just phasing through it.


"I'm really sorry, she's not normally like this." I say, walking over to Praecantatia to try and comfort her.

"N-No...she's right. I-I've been a t-terrible mother..." Praecantatia confesses, tears running down her face.

 

Rineth heads back to Praecantatia, Emerald simply telekinetically ripping the door off and proceeding.
