Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"What do you guys do out here?"

 

"We pretty much keep to ourselves. We've been trading with the Darklands for building supplies, and now that Brisingr has some stabilized islands, we've been trying to help them out resource-wise to keep good relations."

 

"Huh. Nice of you guys."

 

"It's largely for survival. We're... hoping to hold out long enough to have a... second generation here. We can't really afford to be at war, because there's only a couple hundred of us here."

 

"Oh, yeah, Legna mentioned that on the way in."

 

"If we can last long enough, we might be able to... you know, not go extinct."

 

"Do you not think your shield can hold up?"

 

"We have to constantly maintain it, and any attack on it causes a power drain. There's a limited number of us, which means the shield can't hold forever."

 

"Oh. Well, I wish you the best of luck."

 

"Thanks." She nods.

 

Voidfiller pauses, then stands up.
"Well, unless you've got anything else to say, I should probably get going."

 

"I can let you go. Nice meeting you."

 

"You too."
It says, then leaves.

 

Legna waits outside, Iruk talking with her.
"Right, but that could go really south."
"You trust her that little?"
"I mean... I do trust her, but if worse comes to worst..."

 

Voidfiller waits against the door, letting them finish.

 

Iruk points him out, and the conversation ends early.
"Oh, sorry. Didn't hear you coming. Did the meeting go well?" Legna asks.

 

"Yeah. We talked, shared info, and it went well."

 

"I'm surprised she didn't keep you for longer. Once she starts talking, it never seems to stop..."

As midday comes around, Bardock turns in his last contract. The village doesn't seem to have any more, so it's time to move.
The centaurs always have jobs to give, it seems, but the sea guardian Leviathan seems to be making more and more trips back and forth from the island to the southeast. However, there's no sense stalling in the village any longer; if you head to the forest now, you can make it to the centaur village by nightfall. The shore is closer, but you'd be leaving your companions behind...

 

Bardock
"Hmm. It's already midday. If I head towards the centaurs now, I'll be there before nightfall, making it a bit harder to complete hunting contracts. I could head towards the Leviathan and take a trip towards the island, but I should tell my companions first."
Bardock heads home towards the pack.

 

Upon arrival, the pack seems wary, a few of them with slightly burnt fur.
"I hope your contracts went better than our encounter..."
