Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"What if people wish to leave?" Caelia inquires.

 

"Then they have to make the two week trip out. We've got a convoy that makes the trip regularly."

"Think... The Hive Master is mind controlling as many of us as he can. In a sense, those going against him are revolting slaves."

 

"Oh, I was going to help build a teleportation system between here and the exit!" Praecantatia remembers.

 

"...I guess there are multiple ways to look at that, but you're the one with the first-hand experience, so I won't argue."

 

"Oh, right... I don't understand how you can maintain the link between the two positions... or make it hellhound-proof."

"I didn't mean to lead you off on a tangent. Before that, you were saying...?"

 

"I can explain, however I believe 'Magic' is a more efficient explanation based on our time constraints." Caelia says, showing her time display which reads just over 20 minutes.

 

"...Isn't that the answer to everything? How about this; you two take a hellhound home and try to build a teleporter that those nitwits can't break. Better yet, take a bunch, since they never seem to have issues getting themselves killed."

 

"I could install a shield system that prevents hellhounds and other creatures from using the teleporter and delivers a hearty shock if they try." Praecantatia says.

 

"Again, take some home. They're practically the definition of stupid-enough-to-break-it." Prime mumbles.
"...Plus they're kind of a nuisance. They kill themselves off, though, so the guard doesn't actually do much work."

 

"Right. I was on a different planet from the planet with the cave, by the way. So I hear about this slave trade that's going on, creatures looking like this,"
Voidfiller forms into a purple bug-like creature.
"getting captured, transported and enslaved. So I form into one of these things and start hanging out in suspicious areas. Soon enough, I get captured, pretend like I can't do anything, and become a slave for a bit. Once I got there, there was already slaves forming a plan to escape. They needed some tools, though, and 'managed' to provide. Some of us bust out and kill some of the traders, and a bunch of us are set free. That doesn't stop the trade, though, as soon enough, most of us were captured again. Eventually this happened so much I got tired of making a plan and outright killed any slave owner or trader that tried to capture me or anyone. I'm not much for slaves."

 

"Well, I guess we should try and build the teleporter first and see what happens." Praecantatia says, shrugging.

 

"Yeah... well, you guys probably should get going. Twenty minutes is fairly tight, even if you can just warp yourselves over to the warpwyrm via spatial manipulation. Nice meeting you two, though."

"And... they used bugs for their dirty work?"

 

"It's been a pleasure to meet you, Prime. Perhaps you may wish to visit our reality some time." Caelia says, smiling at Prime.

 

"Yeah. Mining, sewing, farming, you name it, and they had the sentient bugs do it with heavy precautions."

 

"An alternate reality? Maybe I will." He chuckles.

"Were the slavers human, or...?"

 

"Most were. Most captors were this large, hairy, blue beasts, though."

 

"Hmm."
Pause.
"I assume you've got plenty more to share?"

 

Caelia warps herself and Praecantatia to the entrance of the city, and Praecantatia begins to get to work on constructing a metal frame of a portal, inserting a few light green crystals given to her by Caelia around the inside.

 

"Yeah, but I'd rather not run my mouth all day."
Voidfiller changes back to its default.
"What about you? I don't even know your name."

 

"Lidnis, head of the Timekeepers' Council. You are?"

The guard keeps a close eye on the duo.
