Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, hi. How much is it to use your portal?" Praecantatia asks, slightly offput by the strange appearance of the half-spider.


Caelia warps over to the bake shop, entering it and looking around.

 

"Huh? Why do you want to use the portal? You aren't from... there."


The clerk glances up.
"Oh, hello. Are you friends with the other goddess that showed up a few minutes ago?" They ask.
Confectionery and pastries of all sorts line countless shelves.

 

"I'm looking for lost souls, so I can find Lord Prime." Praecantatia explains.


"Indeed. Perhaps you'd know where I may find her?" Caelia inquires.

 

"You won't find any down there... at least, none that Lord Prime would save."
Pause.
"You... do realize that the portal leads to... well... uh... I think the term for it is 'Hell?'"


"Sorry, I don't. I've been taking stock whenever there's nobody in the store."

 

"Ah...I guess I'll have to look for Lord Prime elsewhere then." Praecantatia says, a little disheartened as she turns to leave.


"I'll let you get back to that then. I wish you good fortune with your business." Caelia says, taking her leave.

 

"Well, I do seek out lost souls..." A young voice says as Praecantatia turns and almost bumps into what looks like an adolescent in pitch-black clothing.


"Thank you. Have a nice day!"

 

Praecantatia squints through her goggles at the figure for a moment, before seeming to realise something.

"Are you Lord Prime?" Praecantatia asks.


Caelia waves as she exits, heading toward the huge tower, her high heels clicking on the ground as she walks.

 

She can faintly see the outline of a spectral scythe in the boy's hands.
"Some call me that, yes."


Caelia can sense Praecantatia and some other god nearby, apparently at the doorway of a clothing shop.

 

"Uh...it's v-very nice to allow me into your city, your lordship!" Praecantatia says nervously, hastily kneeling.


Caelia heads in their direction, curious.

 

"It's not exactly my city, but you can ditch the kneeling." He says as he shifts slightly, the outline of the scythe opening a strange rift for a nearby spirit to go through.
He then offers a hand to shake.
"Prime, God of Death. Not often I see another god down here."


Praecantatia seems to be kneeling in front of a teenager in dark clothing, spectral scythe in hand.

 

"Praecantatia, Goddess of Magic," Praecantatia says, accepting the handshake, "You can call me Phoebe though."


"...Mortius?" Caelia asks the teenager once she enters the shop, confused.

 

"Nice to meet you, Phoebe." He says, cracking a smile for a brief moment before his face returns to its previous stoic state.


Prime turns.
"Huh? You two must be together, I'm guessing."

 

"Oh, sorry, I thought you were someone else," Caelia apologises, "Yes, I'm with Praecantatia."

"Celeste? How'd you manage to find me here?" Praecantatia asks Caelia, surprised.

"You're hardly the stealthy type, Praecantatia, you leave a trail of magic wherever you go. It's quite easy to trace." Caelia states, glaring at Praecantatia for a moment.

"Oh, come on. You can call me Phoebe!" Praecantatia says, slightly annoyed.

"I refuse. We're goddesses, something the mortals look up to. We're not children playing some kind of role-playing game." Caelia states bluntly.

"I know you secretly like it because you chose Celeste to be your name." Praecantatia argues, a smug look on her face.

"I chose it so you wouldn't pester me about it anymore. Besides, this is not the place for this kind of arguement. We're in the presence of another god." Caelia states, sounding fed up.

"If you don't secretly like having this kind of fun then how come you're making space puns?" Praecantatia asks, smirking.

Caelia gives Praecantatia a withering look, and Praecantatia seems to become a lot quieter.

Caelia turns her attention to Prime.

"I'm terribly sorry you had to see that. We're usually a lot more mature and civilised," Caelia apologises, embarrassed, "My name is Caelia. I'm the Goddess of Space in my reality."

Caelia offers a handshake.

 

"Oh, lighten up." Prime chuckles as he accepts the handshake. "What did she say your name was? Celeste?"

 

"I'd appreciate 'Caelia' a lot more, though you can call me Celeste if you wish." Caelia states.

"But-!" Praecantatia tries to say, before going quiet after another glare from Caelia.

 

"Celeste it is. Do you and Phoebe always get along this... poorly?" He asks, staring straight into Caelia's eyes.

 

"Not usually, though I've found she's been acting more and more childish as of late. On the occassions I've visited her, she's mostly been laying around watching cartoons from Earth," Caelia explains, "She used to be a brilliant sorceress and inventor, I'd hate to see that fade to childlike abuse of her status as a goddess."

Praecantatia seems a little depressed.

 

"You higher gods have much more time than a god like me. I'd probably reap my own soul if I had to live the way you do." Prime shrugs.
"Anyhow... what brings you here? I can already tell one of you came for the candy."

 

"Exploration, mainly. I was suggested to come to this reality by the Goddess of Life. It's interesting to see differences to my own." Caelia states.

"It's also interesting to see how ingredients and common items change. I was informed how magic works differently here," Praecantatia says, sounding a bit more mature, "Though as Th-, uh, Temporus says, there's an infinite number of alternate universes, and an even greater amount of alternate realities housing more alternate universes."

Caelia nods toward Praecantatia, smiling.

 

Prime nods.
"Look, I'd love to keep chatting, but these spirits don't put themselves to rest and we really shouldn't back up some random clothing shop. Mind meeting me at the top of the Spire in an hour?"
