"I did that back when I made a sentient rock and abandoned it, only to hide in its head and use it as an experiment."

 

"So you are using Crystal as an experiment, and you did ditch him. Do you ever intend to let him know you made him?"

 

"No. I wanted to know what something like him would do. At the start, I wanted to know what he'd strive to do, what he'd want to accomplish. It took a few years to make him, then I took years to teach him things, then I went silent once a dragon took him, and that's a choice that I don't think I've forgiven myself for choosing."

 

"So... your intention is to essentially abandon him?" Iruk asks, a bit confused.

 

Fia's eyes brighten up as she watches the Gryphon fly around, clearly enjoying it.


"I realise that, I do have eyes." Praecantatia says, getting up and dusting herself off.


Caelia seems unamused.

 

"I am a puppeteer... this is my way of fighting." Sapphire says.


"Well, welcome to my city. I'd like it if you didn't get the guards all riled up, but beggars can't be choosers."


"This is not meant to be a joke." Sivius says. "I am simply pointing out a technicality error with your statement."

 

"Yeah. It sounds easy, but... I don't know if you'd get it."

 

"It doesn't sound easy, mostly because you have emotions. I just fail to understand why you're thinking of doing it in the first place."

 

"The point is that I did abandon him, I don't want to, now."

 

"So, you abandoned him and can't bring yourself to let him know you regret doing so?"

 

"I can't bring myself to let him know that I was with him the whole time. How'd he respond? What'd he think of me?"

 

"Well, I can't see him being mad at you. He's never really been one to hold a grudge."

 

"I've literally been in his head for the last decade. I know how he thinks."

 

"Then why do you worry? If you know how he thinks, you should be able to predict his reaction."

 

"Yeah, I should be able to."

 

"For someone who claims to be as curious as you do, you seem awfully afraid of the unknown."

 

"It's easy to be curious when you have a good safety net."

 

"Why wouldn't you have a safety net with Crystal?"

 

"Because I left him. I don't know how he feels about that. Hell, he doesn't know. I can't just walk back into his life and expect him to forgive me, though."

 

"So? Not everything goes well. What's the worst he can do? Punch you, assuming you even let him?"
