"So... he isn't."

"Maybe I can use my puppets?" Sapphire asks, mostly thinking out loud.


At this rate, it'd still take an hour, and she seems to have attracted the attention of the city guard.


"He himself doesn't... they do. The individual is no stronger than the rest of us... the collective is their strength."

 

"Not really. Are you planning to mess with him or something?"

 

"Just curious why you two seem so similar."

 

"Puppets?" Fia asks, giggling cutely.


Praecantatia waits out the journey, playing a card game against a clone of herself as she rolls along.


"Strength in numbers. If you cut off the head, however, the body shall fall." Caelia states.

 

"I can show you them, but not in here." Sapphire offers, opening a portal to the outside of the library.


The ball slams into a barrier, Praecantatia havin arrived and the guard not wanting her barreling into the walls.


"There's at least one person I know who would beg to differ." Sivius sighs.

 

"He can shapeshift. Well, he can, but he can't grow in size or change what he's made of."

 

"Yes, but there are many shapeshifters. You're both curious, though, and you both have... strange ways of doing things."

 

"I don't know if my signal would be strong enough to stray far from here." Fia says sadly.


The shield dissipates, as well as Praecantatia's clone, leaving Praecantatia on the ground with a bunch of cards, dazed.


Caelia raises an eyebrow.

 

"What do you mean? And why do you not seem to care that I apparently 'disturbed the peace'?"

 

"I'll just show you the tiny ones, then." Sapphire says, summoning a wood-and-metal gryphon puppet that she makes appear to fly around.


A middle-aged man in a dark cloak walks up to her.
"In case you couldn't tell, this city isn't made out of bowling pins." He says, a bit snide.


Sivius shows Caelia a vision of Amethyst roaming about a forest, headless despite being able to catch (and eviscerate) a deer.

"When I saw you, I expected nothing less. As for what I mean... I think you know."

 

"You think that I'm Crystal?"

 

"I'm not that far into what I've observed from him, but yes, that is my ultimate accusation."

 

Voidfiller pathetically tries to hold back a smile, but it's not entirely clear as to why.
"Hah. It's pretty funny that you think that, actually. If you get your info from someone they need to do more work."

 

"Oh? I guess I need to run a few more crackdowns, then. Maybe I'll go do that after I finish going through his information. Because I'm not going to lie, both of you seem very similar and both feel familiar."

 

"Don't get me wrong, I want to tell you the truth. The fact of the matter is that I have no idea who you have ties with, and I'd rather not put myself in deeper shit."

 

"I'm not with the Hive Master, if that's your concern." They say.

 

"That's not actually my top priority of people who can't know. That's right below my top, but not my top."

 

"Oh? Might that be Crystal's robot companion?"

 

"Why'd I tell you who it is? For all I know you're one of those priority people."

 

"I could threaten to hold you here for longer for not telling me, but knowing you I figure you'd slip out at some point if you wanted to."
