"I feel like Im being a no win situation for you"


"My sister and I." They say. "You have an inquiry?"

"Look, I really don't know you, and if you're treating me like your enemy, you're not giving me a reason to cooperate." She says, though a bit reluctant with her own words.

 

"Well yeah
But its not your fault
Making sure that something is okay is hard to do when you dont actually settle down anywhere"

"A proposition, actually."
The thing takes out an orb, a slingshot, and a small box.
"Care to hear me out?"

 

"I guess so
Doesnt make much sense to me though"


"Why not? Slow day, anyways."

 

"What doesnt"

"Alright, so."
The thing maintains a form of what looks like a four-handed man-bug, presumably to hold the items easier.
The thing opens the box, which is filled with sixteen rings.
"These are basic resistance and attack rings. The ones that are colored blue are the attack ones, the reds are resistance. The effect they give is depicted by what symbol they bear. Get it?"
The rings are set up in a 4 by 4 manner. The first row has rings with a fire symbol, a snowflake symbol, a lightning bolt symbol, and a green skull-and-crossbones symbol. The other rows have the same symbols, but the third and fourth row have red rings, the first two have blue.

 

I say something quietly to the scientists.

"Very well, we'll let you roam the palace and it's surrounding area for now," I say, "You'll black out for a moment once your cuffs are removed, but it won't do you any real harm."

A couple of scientists uncuff Ruby, and, as I said, she blacks out for a moment before coming to.

 

Pause.
"I forgot"


"You looking to sell your stock here?" He asks, sitting up.

She stands up, uneasy as she looks around the lab.

 

She doesn't seem to be in the main part of the lab, but a side room of it that looks quite secure.

"You're free to use the palace's facilities as you wish." I say.

 

"Whose palace?" She asks, trying to draw an orb of energy into her claws.

 

"The Shadow Palace, mine and Shadow Stephanie's." I say.

Ruby is able to.

 

She dispels it, trying to blink.
"Better question... where do you stand with Xlentia?"

 

"Ally, friend." I say.

 

Ruby pauses.
"Then I don't see why you have a problem with me."


Something seems to be offering a link with Tenebrae.

 

"If you don't remember, you tried to kill Shadow Stephanie, and almost succeeded." I say.


Tenebrae lets it through.

 

"Why would I try to kill an ally? Did she backstab Mistress Xlentia?"


The link seems to vanish.

 

"Our plans were to weaken her to a state where she could be freed, however, should she cause too many casualties, we would kill her instead for safety purposes." I say.


Tenebrae rolls her large eyes, forgetting about it.

 

"So, you're just plotting against her?" Ruby asks, confused.


"H-hey! Manners!" Something says telepathically.

 

"No, we don't plan to kill her anymore. That was when she was still mind controlled." I say.


Tenebrae just lets it speak.

 

"I cant blame you for that"

"I'll explain my proposition in a bit. For now, just remember that the skull is poison and the blue rings don't work with ranged attacks."
The thing closes the box and raises the slingshot, which, upon further inspection, has something etched on the handle.
"This slingshot makes anything launched from it explode upon contact. I have a bow of the same caliber, but I'll get to that later."

 

"So, you were trying to kill her in order to free her...?"


"Hmph, how rude. Guess I should drop mine too, you big bitch." They say, furious.

"Why not"


"We don't sell weapons, but the rings are of some interest."

 

"Weaken her, not kill her." I say.


"You're awfully brave to insult something that could kill you so easily," Tenebrae responds, "Or, awfully stupid."
