Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Cheers miss!" The animal says happily.


"Thanks, you're an angel." I say happily, heading into an elevator.

 

Alice smiles at them as she goes into the Skyrail cart.


"I figure I owe you for the grave anyways." Amber laughs, waving as she doesn't follow you into the elevator.

 

The cart begins to move again, making it's way back toward Alice's home and town.


"It was sort of sad, you know." I say.

 

Alice takes in the view as she waits for the cart to arrive.


"I wish I could sympathize, though I apologize for the fuss."

 

The cart soon arrives at the station, Gail smiling at Alice once she arrives.


"It's fine, really. Don't fret about it." I say happily, smiling at Amber as I turn the dials in the elevator.

 

"Thanks for the ride... my house isn't on fire, is it?" She asks nervously.


Amber waves as she starts opening a portal.
"Give sis my regards, will you?"

 

"It looks fine, I think." Gail says, jumping up rather high before landing softly.


"If she doesn't try to murder me, I will!" I say, laughing and giving a wave before teleporting away in the elevator to the Shadow Palace labs.


"Ladies, gentlemen, I have an important task for all of you," I say, addressing the scientists in the labs, "What I have here are the remains of the attempted assassin Ruby. I task you with the job of trying to extract what soul is left in these remains to make an attempt to bring her back to life, or at the least, establish a connection. You may use whatever means necessary, but if you can bring her back to life, you must contact me immediately before doing so in order to move the process to a secure environment where, should she attempt to kill again, she can be contained. Understood?"

"Yes, your highness." The scientists say in unison, bowing.

"Excellent. There is a high bonus pay for this job, I know you will all complete it well." I say happily, giving Ruby's remains to one of the lead scientists.

The scientists immediately get to work on study of Ruby's remains as I leave them to it.

 

"Whew, good. Thanks for the ride, I can see why so many people liked it... but are there, like, week passes? I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of back and forth." Alice asks.


The scientists' project goes on extremely well, almost like Ruby's remains are cooperating with their efforts.

 

"Sort of. You can pay in advance for trips, but they cost a little more." Gail says.


The scientists work hard nonetheless on researching resurrection methods with what they have, testing the possibility of growth in the vats, as well as trying to make contact with shards of Ruby's soul.

 

"I... I'll think about it after I turn the stove off." Alice says hastily, rushing home and doing just that.


Growth seems possible, and they fail to make contact with shards of Ruby... instead, they manage to reassemble her entire soul.
"What... are y-you... doing...?"

 

"Quick, get the king!" One of the lead scientists shouts urgently.

I return to the lab, looking around.

"What's the news?" I ask.

"Your highness, we've made contact with Ruby's soul." One of the scientists says, directing me to a crystal which Ruby can use to speak clearly through.

"Ruby? You there?" I ask.

 

"What do you want from me?" She asks through the crystal.

 

"Mainly just to speak to you again, but your resurrection also. That is, if you can be trusted with life again." I say.

 

"My... resurrection?" She asks, unsure. "Who the hell are you?"

 

"Aj, Shadow Aj. King of the Shadows. Remember?" I ask.

 

"A... shadow king? Then... I'm a prisoner?"

 

"Well, technically you are. Only until we know you're not going to try and kill the queen again." I say.

 

"Queen? Again? There is no queen of shadows..."

 

"Yes there is, Shadow Stephanie survived," I say, "Hate to break it to you, but even your best efforts couldn't kill her."

 

"Who the hell are you talking about?!" She protests. "Whatever. Are you going to use me, or not?"
