"Uh, I'll have to think about it." Gail says, her eyes widening with fear, and wings curling slightly.

 

"Hey, hey, it's okay." Alice reassures. "He's got no reason to hurt you, so he won't. If you don't want me to, I won't arrange anything."

"Damn."
The thing pushes its cards aside.

 

The guard does the same, dealing it a seven and himself a five.
"Probably going to have to put this stuff away when my supervisor comes over."

 

"I'll take care of it, don't fret."
It says, checking the other card.

 

"Uh, yeah," Gail says, "I...need to go make sure the Skyrail is working."

Gail launches off with a large flap of her wings, causing a massive blast of wind around her as she flies away.

 

Alice nods, finishing the tea she was making.

 

Nobody else comes to Alice's door during the morning, leaving her in peace.

 

After finishing making her tea, she heads outside to enjoy the view, watching the town as the day goes by.

 

The town looks pretty even from a distance, though Alice notices a distinct lack of one person: Holly.

 

Concerned, she heads up to the lake, then the community center.

Another five.
"Thanks."

 

"No problem. Hit. Do you know when your supervisor comes over?"

 

Holly isn't in the lake, nor the community centre.

 

Alice heads towards the Skyrail.

Two...
"He never tells me, probably to avoid staging things."

 

"Smart on his part. Hit again."

 

Six.
"Makes sense, just... it's somewhat annoying."

 

"I can see why."
The thing puts their cards face down.

 

He looks at his card and deals himself a ten, shoving his cards aside.
"Literally needed anything but a ten." He sighs.

 

"Dang."
The thing puts its cards aside as well.

 

It gets a six, he gets a nine.

It's other card is a queen.
