Another deal, it gets an ace and he gets an eight.

She sighs, going back home and spending the night on her porch.

 

It, as usual, checks its other card.

 

There seems to be an odd glow coming from the direction of Gail's house, though it could just be the moonlight.

 

Alice heads there anyways, curious.

Another ace.

 

Alice manages to catch the glow of a faerie flying up the path of the skyrail once she arrives, though the station looks a little more functional than it had been.

 

Alice smiles, checking for any scrolls.

 

There's no scrolls around, unfortunately.

 

"Hit."
It says.

She heads home, hoping Holly will show up in the morning.

 

There's a knock on Alice's door come morning.

 

Alice opens it, a bit tired.

 

Gail awaits outside the door, smiling.

"Alice, I have some great news! I don't know how or why, but when I woke up this morning, the Skyrail was working again! You and the rest of the town can finally use it again!" Gail says ecstatically.

 

Alice smiles.
"I saw the repairs."

 

"It's really amazing, isn't it? I just thought I'd tell you. Oh, and your first trip's on me. I thought you might want to see the next station." Gail says happily.

 

It puts its cards face down, waiting for the guard.

 

"Was running the Skyrail your main source of income?" Alice asks, smiling.

 

"Yeah, it was my job, though I had enough money to live on once it broke." Gail says cheerily.

 

He looks, then pauses.
"You first?"

Alice summons a small coin bag, offering it to Gail.
"If you take donations, here's to your dedication to the Skyrail."

 

The thing flips over its cards, visibly disappointed.

 

"Really? Aw, thanks Alice!" Gail says happily, accepting the coin bag.
