Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She smiles before pausing, and writing down a note and leaving it near the hut as she goes to another room, using the night to help her carry the gifts.

 

The faerie looks over the note, curious.

 

It's written in the language the golden scroll was.

"Faeries,
I don't know what you have planned for me, and I don't know how long I can keep up with the requests for the ingreedients. However long I last, thank you.

I hope the extra donation can help your kind. I suppose it's hard not for me to terrorize most faeries since I'm a shadow.

Alice checks the center for any other scrolls.

 

A couple more scrolls seem to have appeared, one on a cluttered notice board and one in a broken down boiler room near to the safe room.

The requests all seem to be for the various townspeople, one of them apparently for the wizard, requiring a pomegranate, a rabbit's foot, a bottle of wine and some oak resin.

 

Alice takes note of all the requests before going to the boiler room.

 

"If you wanna get beat, sure."
The thing jokingly taunts, smiling.

 

"Getting beat's more entertaining than getting boted!" He laughs, offering it the deck to cut.

 

The boiler room seems to have far fewer yet harder to obtain requests. One set requires a copper, iron and gold bar, another requires quartz, two types of 'natural' mage crystal and some 'fire quartz', and another asks for slime, bat wings and light and dark essences. Based on the first set of items, Alice could probably find what she needs in the abandoned mines near the lake.

 

Alice takes note of these too, going out to the notice board outside the community center and posting the requests before heading to the mines.

 

The thing chuckles, splitting the deck almost equally.

 

The guard takes it back and deals out two cards each, one face up and the other down.

He has a five, it has an eight.

 

Inside the mining cave there appears to be an elevator, though it looks out of order. There also appears to be a minecart track leading down a passageway, and a blocked off area. A ladder down a hole near the middle of the cave is probably the way into the main part of the mines.

 

The thing thinks it over for a bit.
"Hit."
It decides.

 

Alice summons a magic orb, descending into the mines.

"Look at the other card..." The guard suggests, glancing at his.

 

There appears to be a few rocks scattered about a small cavern in the mines, one with bits of copper ore sticking out of them.

 

"Oh, yeah."
It looks at the second card.
"I forgot that there's several ways to play blackjack. The main one I've played is a version where you make your call based on your first card, and look at the second once you do."

 

Alice uses her powers to extract the copper, careful not to damage the rock much.

"Then how do you know if you have a blackjack?" He asks.

The other card is an ace.

 

"If you feel lucky."
The thing puts its cards face down, not asking for a hit.
