Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Each blink gets her a little closer, but it's clear whoever she's chasing is simply too fast, easily making up for the distance Alice covers after each blink.

 

Frustrated, Alice heads back home, weary.

 

"Well, what could give us a clue?"
Crystal thinks for a moment.
"People, maybe?"

 

It's quite a trip back up the mountainside, and it doesn't help with the added weight of the water.

 

"Yeah, maybe we could go back to the group of floating islands?" Linoa offers, stopping.

Alice recalls to her porch, exhausted.

 

The footprints have dried up, the now risen sun shining warmth across the mountains. Luckily, Alice's house provides shade from it.

 

Alice heads inside and drinks her tea before sleeping most of the day away.

 

Nobody disturbs Alice, her home serene and silent.

 

In the afternoon, she heads back outside and checks for a note, then walking up to where she left the fishing spear.

 

There's no notes, though the spear has been taken, the note left behind. A man in a dark green jacket and a brown hat seems to be fishing nearby, while a young woman and a pair of children head toward the museum across the bridge.

 

Alice opts to check out the museum, seeing if it's still open.

 

The museum seems to be a library too, bookshelves near the entrance with an empty-looking museum further along. The young woman seems to be teaching the two children how to read.

A man in a blue coat and hat sits behind the front desk, looking stressed.

 

Alice approaches him.
"Hello, mind me asking what's ailing you?"

 

"Oh, hello madam," The man says, adjusting his glasses with a white gloved hand, "I'm just a little stressed about my museum. A while ago there was a break in, and someone stole all the artefacts. Quite a few of them where minerals from the mine too, and since people have stopped using them, I haven't been able to buy any spare minerals off of Clint."

 

"Sounds good to me!"

 

Alice sighs.
"I'll add it to my list, don't ask. But, if I can bust eight gangs in a week, I can figure out what the hell's going on in this town." She says, turning to leave.

"Obviously, don't fall in the magma. Other than that, we may as well look wherever."

 

"Hold on a minute, miss. Before you go, I just wanted to say that, if by any chance you can find some new artefacts for the museum, I have some rewards on offer." The man in blue says.

 

She turns back for a moment.
"Not until the old ones get returned. Then I have a bug that might be willing to help with that, if you've got any place for art." Alice says, heading to the exit.

 

"I...don't think you'll manage to find them, but good luck." The man in blue says.

 

"I didn't think I'd get hired by the shadow royalty, but luck got me by. Hell if I know what luck will bring me next." She mumbles on her way out.
