Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yes, rather like this."

 

In another timeline, Vei stands in front of you, looking hopeless; desperate.
"I cannot save you a second time. I will not hold back paradoxes."
She vanishes.

"It's so pretty... is the rest of the world like this?!"

 

I give Vei a glance at another timeline.

Everyone but Artemis, Abigail and I is dead. Artemis has a corrupt look on her face, and Gaia's Scythe is stained with blood. Vines hold me in place, yet I don't seem to struggle; Abigail lies face down on the ground, unconscious.

Artemis licks the blood from Gaia's Scythe, "Finally, they're all dead. I was getting so sick of them." She says in a demonic voice.

The Watch of True Time shows an hour ahead, "Know what you're getting yourself into." I say, before the vision ends.

Abigail coughs and shivers, holding on to me desperately. Artemis loosely wraps vines around Abigail, a caring look on her face.

 

Vei points to the time; also an hour ahead.
Another you holds the Alpha, stabbing you through the chest with Shadow Katana; both yours and the other you's version.
You rewind a bit, standing next to Vei.

"You are too inexperienced... Please. You're straining me, horribly. Don't use the toy, you really don't know how to use it properly..."

 

For some reason, Count Drake hears this. "The feeling is mutual, Life Guardian." I say as I silently cast a spell. The ground rumbles, and a sharp spike made of earth and rocks erupts from the ground. I cast another spell, and it multiplies in a large circle around me. I cast another spell, and a sphere of pure earth and rocks encases me. As I disappear, you hear my words, "I need to study"

 

"Then don't send my girlfriend on a genocidal rampage," I say, uncaring, "I won't hold restraint if Artemis forces my hand."

"Wh-Where's N-Nathan when y-you need h-him?" Abigail manages to say, weakly.

"One of these days I'm going to kill everyone..." Artemis mutters quietly.

I put my hand on Artemis' shoulder, and shake my head, "Genocide is my deal."

"But they're making fun of me!" Artemis protests.

 

"Then I suppose we'll have to try an incomplete ritual...

...and destroy you all..."
She fades.

 

Abigail leans on me, falling unconscious.

Artemis looks at Abigail, then back at me, then to Ihra.

I shake my head.

Artemis gives a confused look.

I draw a line across my neck, gesture to Abigail, then to Artemis.

I shake my head once more.

Artemis gives a frustrated look, before crossing her arms.

I draw a line across my neck before putting a hand to my chest; Artemis seems to lighten up a little, yet keeps her arms crossed.

 

You hear a voice echo from the sphere, "So will I, Life Guardian."

 

"Heal?" She notices your gesturing.

 

Artemis glances at the sphere, before drawing a line across her neck.

I nod, before putting up a hand. Artemis gives an evil smile.

"Oh, nothing." I say dismissively.

 

Suddenly, a small mound rises from the ground in front of the both of you, and sprays the both of you with hot air.

 

"What about more cookies?"

 

"Well, there are the desolate, horrifying places..." I stand staring blankly at thin air for some time, as if remembering things. "But there are other places, beautiful and fair, like here."

 

Artemis draws a line across her neck, a little faster this time, before gesturing to the sphere.

I shake my head, raising a hand again.

Artemis gestures to the mound.

I hold up a finger, then 3, then 2.

Artemis takes out her bow and mock-fires an arrow.

I shake my head, unsheathing Shadow Katana slightly.

Artemis nods.

Abigail twitches a little, yet remains asleep. Some of the colour begins to return to her hair, albeit slowly.

"Sure thing!" I say happily, summoning my jar of cookies and taking out a few more, passing them to Artemis. Artemis walks over and hands Ihra some cookies.

 

She wastes little time scarfing them down.

"Mother? Do you think you could..."
"You shouldn't even remember that. I'm worried it'd get torn, it's not a fabric like ours. It's meant for celebrations, even then it's extremely fragile."
"Pleeeaaaaseee?"
"Ugh... Maybe if AJ and Drake call off their conflict for a while. I can't believe you still want to see me in that..."

He stares at the water.
"Aforl, maybe, some day, could we go explore the world? Like when I grow up, I could fly you everywhere! Wouldn't it be fun?!"

 

"Hey, I ain't the salty one here, he is. You do whatever you want, it's Drake the one being a salt pile about it." I say defensively.

Artemis gestures to Abigail, then her head.

I nod, and Artemis place her hands on her head; a green glow surrounding them. Artemis suddenly falls asleep.

"By any chance are you going to be changing into your wedding dress or something?" I ask, sceptically.

 

Vei looks at you in shock.
"She told you?! Ihra! Why?!?"
"I... I don't think... I just think it looks nice..."
"You know what? No. Not now."
"Aww, but..."
"No."

 

"More than told," I say, grinning, "She showed me a photograph of you on your wedding day. Quite nice dancing, I must admit."

 

"You..."
"Dear, it wasn't a horrid day."
"...You're right. Maybe I should just..."
"Your call. They had it custom made for you; there's literally nothing else like it."
She grumbles, then tells Ihra to open her box.
