Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Ok, for one, I'm the king of the Realm, but I only control this one city. There are more kings in the Shadow Realm which control other cities, I just have the loudest voice, if you will. For two, I'd rather keep my 'kingdom's' land here in the Shadow Realm. Branching out to different dimensions is dangerous and harder to control," I explain, "If anything, it's good I'm the king here. Most Shadows outside the palace walls are still going out and slaughtering humans every night."

 

"You don't need to convince me. I'm just saying your image is kind of working against you in your quest to kill the Hive Master."

 

"Tell me about it..." I say.

 

"Is that a figure of speech or actual request?"

 

"Figure of speech." I say.

 

"Right, I guess the Anubi were an unwelcome reminder of that..."

 

"You think? It's one of the reasons I ended up hating that place. Your place was really nice though, friendly people. It felt like one of my previous adventures." I say.

 

"What do you mean? You do know I don't have a... place... right?" She asks, confused.

 

"The place where you were hiding, with that dead draconian." I say.

 

"Oh, I picked it because it was mostly sacred ground. You want a stupid bout of history? That used to be home to a nation of pacifist people who wanted to grow by strengthening ties with other races and other nations. A warmongering kingdom wiped them out and killed every last citizen that didn't hide well enough... only to be undermined by their own population outraged by the massacre. Now, the only things left of both are ruins."

 

"Who was the dead draconian in the cave with all the offerings?" I ask.

 

"What do you mean, dead draconian?" She asks, confused.

 

"There was like a dead draconian in the caves," I say, "Whatever."

 

"The only caves with offerings I know of there has a dead dragon."

 

"Dragon, draconian, whatever." I say, shrugging.

 

"There's a difference." She sighs. "But... according to the local lore, that seems to be... how to I put this... the corpse of another Ihra? I guess that's the best way to put it. One that used my name."

 

"Whoa," I say, "I hope she liked my offering and prayer then."

 

"The people there speak of events that seemed crazy until I met you. Apparently Ihra had five bodies, and her true form trapped in an indestructible crystal seal. When her dragon form died, the crystal began to fill with her own blood - as if whoever put her there wanted her to drown in it. However, a hydra, an orc, and a few humans teamed up with the locals and found a way to weaken the seal on the inside so Ihra could break out."

 

"Whoa, that sounds awesome." I say, surprised.

 

"Ask the locals sometime, maybe even the hydra himself. He's still around."
