"I dont think you want to bring in a tracker to your base of ops"

 

"I mean I wouldnt if the Hive Master is really that ignorant of what gods he does and does not have in control"

 

"If your base of ops is in a gods palace then you have a point
Otherwise dont be toting me around anywhere you dont want him to know about"

 

"Alright
Ill try to get you out of here once someone comes"

 

"Thanks
Maybe dont tell them were supposed to be killing each other"

 

"Yeah I can spare that detail"
I lay down once more.

 

She lays down too, not moving much after a while.

 

I just relax, looking upwards.

 

There are no stars. Strangely enough, there is no reason to believe there's any physical barrier above. It's just a crimson sky; very few thin, wispy clouds leave the view rather plain.

 

"You think we're going to just carve out your still beating heart, stuff another one in its place and call that good? Of course it won't hurt!" I say, "You'll be unconscious for the entire transplant. It'll be like falling asleep one moment and waking up with a new heart the next."

 

Ragnyon nods nervously.
"W-well... if you mess up the blood, it will."

 

"I won't, don't worry." I say, smiling.

 

She nods.
"Uhm... just saying, you'll know if it goes wrong."

 

"Will you explode or something?" I ask.

 

"Actually... sort of. All the excess magic goes somewhere..."

 

"Well, you have no reason to worry. My surgeons and scientists are top quality." I say happily.

 

"I sure hope so." She mumbles, nervous.

 

"We don't have to do it immediately; we can spend some time doing what you want to do." I say.

 

"Well, I want to not die, so that doesn't really account for much right now."
