I asked sister to behead me so I could avoid their pain

"Whats their pain"

 

"Their curses I guess
Some worse than others"

 

"Oh
Well I guess thats that"
Amethyst can sense me lay down on the ground.

 

She just holds still.

 

"Well, I can understand that a little better now. Do you have a hierarchy system within your species?" I ask.

 

I lean up.
"Something wrong"

 

"Of course, we aren't a hive mind."

"No just stuck
Right here with you
Strange being stuck next to someone youre meant to kill"

 

"Are those lower in the hierarchy more likely to be fed than those higher up?" I ask.

 

"Only because there's more of them. We've had competent leaders sacrificed, we've had indebted servants sacrificed. We've even had bishops and generals sacrificed. I'd say everyone's got a fair shot at getting their life thrown into the jaws of the abyss."

 

"Death is the ultimate equaliser." I say, shrugging.

 

"Do you have an issue with the way that is?"

 

"Not at all," I say, "Everyone's entitled to die, once you're dead you're like everyone else who's died."

 

"Nevermind me asking... Have a nice day, mister."

 

"You too." I say, deciding to swim up and continue my flight.

 

You wind up narrowly getting scorched by a Phoenix rushing by.
"Sorry, no time!" The rider shouts.

 

I just glance back, before continuing onward.

 

There's someone in dark red armor holding on to the Phoenix's talons, neither glancing back at you.

As you near the shores, you find the ruined walls of a fallen kingdom.

 

I let myself fall to the ground, landing on my feet near the wall.
