Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"As... hopeless as it is saying this, bring your offering to the altar inside. Nobody's stolen from Her Final Resting Place out of respect, and though you are capable I must trust you will discard your dignity doing so." The guard says, stepping even more off to the side.

 

I teleport past the guard and enter.

 

You find that the other caves merge, leading to one tunnel going down into a larger cave opening.

Three sets of dim magic lights give a solemn air to the setting, and as you turn the last corner you see a flawlessly preserved corpse of a sky-blue scaled dragon, holes torn in its right wing and nothing left of her face but flesh, horns, and bone fragments.

A plaque in the center reads
"In Memory of Her Majesty
Ragnyon the Peacemaker"

Undying flowers, jewery, treasures, coins, and well-loved children's toys surround the dragoness' remains, the only lighting in the room two torches on the far ends of each side of the cave.

 

I decide to summon another potion, similar in shape to the first but with white liquid within and a hollow peg. A slot the two potions together, putting them near to the dragoness before kneeling for a moment and praying.

 

As you finish your prayer, you ever so faintly feel as if this Ragnyon smiled upon you in thanks.

 

I get up and leave.

"I've made an offering." I tell the guard.

 

"She has notified me of her gratitude. The draconian you seek was flown north-northwest into the ruins of Aurilon."

 

"Got it, thanks." I say, getting a running start and flying off.

 

Nobody stops you, nobody trails you.

It's a smooth flight over the ocean, albeit it takes an hour and you could've sworn you saw a pegasus off to the east.

 

Once I reach a halfway point over the ocean, I decide to let myself drop into it, looking around to see what sealife is in it.

 

A blue whale, some fish, merfolk, and a few smaller sea serpents.
The water's fairly clear.

 

I swim over to one of the merfolk, my legs changing into a fish tail, mimicking Katie's.

"Hey!" I greet.

 

They're startled by your sudden appearance less so than you being a shadow.
"Oh, hello. I, uh... didn't know there were shadows that lived underwater."

 

"They're much less common, though all Shadows can." I say, bubbles floating from my mouth as I speak.

 

"It's nice to see that a few are willing to visit, then."

 

"What's it like down here? Do you have any predators to watch out for?" I ask.

 

"Pretty peaceful. Not many predators towards us, but we still can't get complacent with our place in this ocean."

 

"Why's that?" I ask.

 

"Yearly sacrifices."

 

"Why do you need to sacrifice every year? Is there some kind of gigantic beast that needs to be fed so it doesn't kill everyone?" I ask.
