Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He moves the bow around to aim the scope at a target.

"What, too little?"
I joke.
"I've got a tiny bit more extra."

 

Now it's aimed at a target, a little green dot on the scope pointed straight at the bullseye.

"You cash in someone else's paycheck or something?"

 

Crystal releases the arrow.

"No. Apparently a coin you can get from selling a wood carving back in my home town is worth a month's salary here."
I explain.
"So do you want the bags or not?"

 

Bullseye.
"Trust the scope."

"Shit... of course I do. Maybe you could not blow up our economy in the future, then?" Rob asks.

 

"I guess so."
Crystal agrees, knocking another arrow and aiming where he just fired.

I shrug.
"I needed some stuff."
I take out the other bag, now handing Rob both bags.

 

With the dot on the arrow, he splits it.
"Definitely go with the scope."

"One's enough. Just... leave it on my desk. I'll get to it in a second."

 

"Woah."
Crystal puts down the bow and picks up the next nearest one.

I walk over to his desk, leaving the bag of twenty grams on it.

 

It's got five slots for arrows, and a really awkward metal piece where you would usually hold the string to draw it back.

"Thanks. Hammer's on top of the bookshelf to the left of the doorway, on the way out."

 

"Uhh..."
Crystal mumbles, trying to figure out how it works, before just taking five arrows and putting them in.

"Thanks for the new weapon."
I say, looking for the hammer before starting to go out.

 

They fit perfectly. That seems to be how it's supposed to work.

"No problem."
The hammer on the bookshelf has "Thirteen" imprinted on the end of the handle, grip offering a good grasp and the business end feeling much heavier than your sword. One end is flat, the other has four small "spikes" on it.

 

Crystal tried pulling back and aiming for a target.

Taking the hammer, I feel it around a bit.
"What's it made out of?"

 

The bow seems to imbue itself with a small magical charge.

"Some alloy a crazy half-dragon taught me how to make. She was a complete psychopath, but you can't complain about something stronger than the usual folded steel."
Feels something between too heavy and too easy to handle. It's strange, too. From your memory, it sounds like he's describing Ruby.

 

Crystal releases the bow.

"Half-dragon, huh? I know a few."
I test out the sharpness of the spikes by pricking myself.

 

The five arrows home in on five different bulls.

"How many is a few?"
They're not very sharp, but they'll definitely make a brutal addition to blunt force trauma.

 

Crystal holds the bow down, looking at the result.
"Woah."

"Personally? Around ten."
Content, I hook the hammer on my belt.

 

"Welp. That's enchanted." Linoa rhetorically comments.

"That's a lot. I thought dragons were fairly rare."

 

Crystal seems to think for a bit, putting the bow down and grabbing the nearest new one.

"Not where I hang out."

 

It's a basic bow, no compounding mechanism or anything.

"What, you found a world of the beasts?"

 

Crystal looks it over, seeing if there's anything special at all.

"I don't think 'found' and 'beasts' are really the proper words to describe it, but yes."

 

Nothing.

"Then what words would you describe it with, then?"
