Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Murel just stares blankly at Katie before turning a bit sour.
"I don't understand what you're saying, but if your kind has embodiments of the damn grim reaper you can tell them to piss right off about telling us when we should die."

 

"Well, they don't tell you when to die, they just make it easier to pass on when it's your time to." Katie says, smiling.

 

"That sounds stupid. Here, we have the Heaven's Descent program. If a guard's dying, they become a cyborg. Or other places, things just die. Making it easier to pass makes no sense... hell, I could do that with my axe."

 

"Well, they can save people and bring them back to life if they've died before they were due to. Sort of like conditional immortality in a way." Katie says.

 

"So, they do keep track when we're supposed to die." Murel says bluntly.

 

"Kind of. They can see the multiple possibilities of you dying in the future, and they decide which ones you should be brought back from. Sorta." Katie says.

 

"That's... dumb. It's like asking a stranger if you're worth reviving. I wouldn't trust one if I saw one, but the others might." Murel shrugs. "I just want to get things done. No games with my axe."

 

"Well, they're sort of servants of the god of death. I don't think he has a very high opinion of a lot of living things." Katie says.

 

"Oh, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I can see why." Murel shrugs. "So, now that I'm sure you two aren't traumatized, I'm gonna go fix the walls I smashed. Again."

 

"Ok, I think we're going to go back and meet up with our group. We have the information we wanted." Katie says happily.

 

"You actually got her to talk? Embers is, like, already half dead."

 

"We read her mind." Katie says.

 

"That works too. Glad you got the info, though... I do have one question. I know it's cruel, but that poor girl's suffered for years... do you think I should put her out of her misery?"

 

"She misses Liv a lot...is she ever going to return? It seems a bit cruel to kill her without ever seeing Liv again." Katie says.

 

"I... don't know. Our queen's been gone for a generation, now, and even her homeworld hasn't seen her since."

 

"Well...I'm not sure. Maybe you could dress up as the queen before you kill her so she's happy one last time?" Katie suggests.

 

"That's... kind of a crime." Murel admits.

 

"Well...make it quick so she doesn't realise what's happening," Katie says, "Like spearing a fish."

 

"Terrible example, but I know what you're getting at."
Pause.
"...After the wall. I... need a little time to let it sink in."

 

"D-Do you need a b-build a wall?" Angela asks, smiling slightly.
