Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

They cheer up a little. "Thank you. And good luck with your adventures."

 

"So...Uhm, dragon thing...what exactly are we supposed to do now?" Echoes Leo.
I appear to still be preoccupied with rummaging through the bags of Sir Robert.

 

"I might be able to do something to it."
I draw my Amethyst Broadsword.
"This isn't just for show."

 

"Woah..." echoes Leo.
It seems I have pulled out a spellbook and am now reading through it.

 

"Not sure if that's viable..."

"Thank you."
I nod, then start just walking around Solignis to look around.

"Hope we think of something by the time it makes a move."

 

I whisper to Rineth, "Rineth, do you think it can be affected by water and lightning? I might have formulated a plan, though I might faint from exhaustion."

 

The outer rim of the town is a lot more poor than the inner rim. The outer rim consists of shops, basic homes, and dark alleys, whilst the inner rim holds anything from mansions to barracks, to mage towers.

The town is still recovering from a mass outbreak of raids from tunneling wyrms (OCC: not used as a different word for dragons) and there are more than a few holes in the ground, being secured and patched up.

A few people would turn and look to the red skies, where Yhrey and Gloomtail darted back and forth in the clouds. You'd see a few groups of patrolling footmen or people in red cloaks, but other than that, people hardly gathered.

And a few people still chose to glare at you, but for the most part, they ignored you altogether.

 

I go and try to get a closer look at (what I think is) a mage tower.

"No idea."

 

The tower is slightly raised, taking a short flight of stairs to reach it. Strange floating pieces of drelsh hover around the tower, and three red cloaked mages surround a small orange circle outside of the tower, chanting slowly in a different language, an aura surrounding them.

 

I keep a distance, but watch carefully, seeing if I can understand any bit of the... incantation?

 

You don't really understand anything, but after a short while the ritual finishes and a large, green egg materializes out of nowhere.

 

I wait to see if anything happens, now curious.

 

A faint tapping can be heard from within the egg, gradually building up. Eventually, the egg starts rocking back and forth, cracks forming. The crevices get larger until the egg completely splits in half, revealing a tiny green dragon.

The dragon blunders about, spitting light green sparks and generally looking confused, knocking into the mages. The mages look tired, as if all the energy had been drained out of them, but they gather around the dragon anyway, trying to calm it and restrain it.

 

"I see." I take a seat and continue to study the spellbook.

 

I try a spell to relax its nerves and make it calm down, green tome now in hand.

 

The green dragon leaps away from the mages and towards you, attempting pathetically to tackle you. It completely ignores your spell.

"If we're right and it's an," a pause for air "venom knife dragon, then it's scales will reflect all the spells you can throw at," more air "...sadly." One of the mages speaks up.

 

"Sorry to intrude. You tame these things?"
I point my tail towards it, half-turned away from the hatchling.

 

The hatchling nips at your tail, then returns to the mages and starts tugging at their cloaks. One of the mages pulls out a piece of drelsh and throws it a few feet. The dragon hobbles after it, attempting to chew on it (even though the drelsh doesn't fully fit in their jaw).

"No need to apologize... People do it... A lot." They fully catch their breath, mostly recovered from ritual. "Yes, we do. It's custom for some mages to summon a dragon and prepare it for a rider."

 

"Summon? Like, take from their nest summon or create-out-of-thin-air summon?"
A bone needle is launched from my tail, deliberately flying straight in front of the hatchling's eyes.
I flick my tail around slightly to draw its attention.

 

I peak around, looking for the hidden valley.
