Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, come on. You don't have a poker face. How do you really feel about it?" Linoa presses.

The shopkeeper seems to be idling at the counter, half asleep.

 

"Well... he was important to me... then he left..."

I rap my fingers on the nearest counter, casually hoping to get their attention.

 

"So, that's it? He leaves, you're done with him?"

They glance over.
"Sorry. You buying or renting?"

 

Myria decides to read through Embers' mind, searching for memories of the relic and it's burial place.

 

"Well, I don't know how to find him, so it's never really been a, uh... goal of mine."

"I was hoping to buy."
I say, revealing the pendant in my hand.

 

She can't find any particularly helpful memories, but she does at least get a clue that the relic is buried somewhere in a withered forest.

"What would you do if you did find him?"

They nod, pulling out a scale as per usual.
"Resistance charms are a gram each."

 

Myria pursues this memory, trying to find a trail from an easily memorable location to it, or anything near the burial area that would tip people off to it being the correct location.

 

There's not much, but she at least gets something that narrows it down; the memory only goes to tell Myria Embers walked five minutes straight into the forest, but she can't tell which direction Embers entered.

 

Myria stops searching Embers' memories, removing her hand.

"The relic you're looking for is buried in a withered forest, somewhere five minutes in. That's all I can gather." Myria says.

 

"...I don't know."

I nod, handing him the bag of gold powder.

 

Embers weakly licks Myria in response.

"Any burning questions? Any grudges? Just not sure at all?"

He measures out the gram and returns the bag.
"Thanks for your business."

 

"You're incredibly weak, and you won't last much longer. Shall I put you to peace painfully to save the suffering?" Myria asks, kneeling down beside Embers.

 

"I don't know."
Crystal repeats.

"Thank you."
I smile, take the bag and the pendant, and leave the shop, heading towards the bank.

 

"Just a bow and thirteen arrows."

 

Embers hesitates.
"B-but, Liv..."

 

"Is she your owner?" Myria asks kindly.

 

They nod, running upstairs.

"I'd be asking everything I could if I was in your situation. But I'm not you."

The teller seems a bit confused why you're back.

"Did she leave you to become so weak and close to death?" Myria asks.

 

"S-she just vanished..."

 

"Has nobody come to take care of you?" Myria asks, concerned.
