Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

They nod.
"Ah... I want to see just how far I've come with my training. I've been trying to learn the chainwhip... would you mind giving me a minute to get it?"

She throws up the magma she drank.

 

"Are you ok?" Katie asks, concerned.

 

"Yeh... thirsty... dizzy..." Embers mumbles, weary.

 

Angela and Katie gently rest Embers on the ground.

"Here, you should eat something." Katie says, offering a steak.

 

"Maybe..."
Crystal says, putting the quiver and bow on his back before thinking.
"You ever practice fighting with a grinder?"
He asks, raising his hand as it shifts into a small grinder, both wheels a bit farther away from each other than it should be.

"Noted. I'll stay away from him, then."

 

"Certainly. Take your time." I say, looking around for a bow and quiver I can borrow.

 

She puts it in her mouth, but can't really chew.

There's plenty up in the armory.
"Thanks! Uh... can I grab you anything while I'm up in the armory?" They ask, trying to be polite.

"Heh... no, but I've never seen a soldier use one as a weapon."

"That may be hard. He... doesn't have emotions and doesn't care about emotions. If he follows you around for a bit, just... good luck. He scares the hell out of me."
Pause.
"Final warning, don't use magic against him. His plating is insanely resistant to all kinds of magic. Even chronomancy isn't enough to damage him."

 

Katie takes another steak, using ice to crush it into an easily edible mush before offering it to Embers.

 

She seems to be having a hard time staying awake at this point.

"This is what happens with us." Murel says, looking at Embers.

 

"My creator said it wasn't often used, but he got around to using it a lot against enemies with armor or bows. He said it was useful when you needed to, well, 'grind something up', but I never got around to using it."

"I haven't got much magic, so that's not a problem. But, thanks."

 

Katie sighs.

"Maybe we should just give up and look for the information somewhere else." Katie says, crestfallen.

 

"I mean, it doesn't seem practical to kill anything other than a civillian, but a weapon's a weapon."

"Yeah. Just... whatever you do, don't make yourself his center of attention."

"Can't you get a prophet to read her mind?" Murel asks.

 

"Yeah... I don't really know the times that he used it, but he said it was useful."

"Wasn't planning on doing so."
I confirm.

 

"I personally can't see it, but he must've been on to something if he thought it was useful."

"Just making sure. Though, on the flipside... if you decline to talk with him on his terms, that'll also raise suspicion. So... good luck."

 

"He talked about it for a bit, but said never to try it myself because I'd end up hurting myself because... well, I'd be using my stone to grind and that'd hurt."

"If he talks to me, I'll talk to him."
I shrug.

 

Katie thinks for a moment.

"I do know someone with good mind reading powers." Katie says.

 

"Hold on... what DO you know about your creator? You have some memories..."

"Just be wary saying no."

Murel pauses.
"Probably want to go get them. I'm getting called off to treat a few amputees and send a few rabble rousers home with their own. Good luck getting anything out of her." She says, jumping off the spiral staircase and taking the twenty story drop.
Her landing is both very audible and lets off a few tremors.

 

Katie and Angela disappear again, returning a short while later with Myria.

"It's certainly close to death." Myria comments, walking over to Embers and putting a hand on her head.

 

"Well, he pretty much taught me everything. Talking, shifting, magic, whatever I can do or know, really."

"Hm."
I nod, aiming to find a marketplace.

 

Embers tries to open an eye, but gets nowhere.
"H-help..."
