Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sure enough, Murel shows up in her armor again.
"I'd be a bit careful using water and ice magic in the palace. Tends to mess with fiery things, which this palace is full of." She says, offering her shield for the duo to sit on.

Less shaking, bullseye.
"That seemed to help."

As you leave, some kind of construct watches you from a distance. They turn away after a moment and leave, but for a second they seemed curious about you.

 

"Yeah, thanks for the tip."
Crystal says, loading another arrow and checking how far he can pull the bow back before releasing.

I trail them, trying to get a better look at just what they were.

 

"I'm sort of allergic to fire, in a sense." Katie says, getting onto the shield with Angela.

 

He can get it a few more inches back, but he's shaky again.

They're some kind of dragon-centaur, but they don't seem to notice you trailing.

"Well, fire's allergic to water, in a sense." Murel says. "What floor you looking for?"

 

He releases the strain a bit, going to where he can steadily have it back, then releases.

I continue following, making sure to check my surroundings.

 

"We were looking for Embers, i-if you can take us to them." Angela says.

 

"Twentieth floor." Murel says, lithifying the pair and launching them up, the rock cracking at the twentieth floor.

"Embers is in the room next to you!" Murel calls.

 

A little disoriented, the pair head into the room next to them.

 

A scrawny fox weakly looks at the pair, hiding behind a chair.

Just under the bull.

They seem to have gone near the black market.

 

Crystal takes another arrow and does the same thing, but aims up a bit more.

I stop, making a quick look as to where they go, but not following anymore.

 

Bull.
"Good job."

They're done moving, simply standing dormant tucked in an alley.

 

"Alright."
Crystal says, reforming to his typical form.
"Maybe we should try a new bow or weapon?"

I spy on them for a bit, acting casual and looking around if they turn my way.

 

"Actually, I was thinking about working on strength. You're rock, so I don't know why you're shaking."

They turn your way, but only for a moment as they just spin around before standing limp in the alley.

 

"I don't know... maybe it's because I'm living?"
Crystal shrugs.

I exit the alley, walking away from the black market.

 

"Then maybw you can get stronger, keep working at it until you stop shaking.

The construct doesn't follow you, but Alice seems to have been watching.
"Tread carefully around him." She warns.

 

"What do you think I should do, then?"

"Figured."
I say, continuing to walk.
"Somebody with an interest in me here wouldn't be surprising, but what's he up to?"

 

"I... really don't know. Maybe projectile weapons just won't work."

"He... is waiting for Aj to go home. I'm scared to ask him directly, and you should probably be too."
Pause.
"That's my artificial brother, Peridot. Built with all the strength and secrets of the first draconians... inside, though, is some orb that's supposed to contain every inkling of knowledge they had. Even the stuff us preservers lost."

 

"Hello there." Katie says kindly, lowering herself slightly as she approaches slowly.

 

Embers weakly opens an eye.
"G-go find her..." She utters weakly.

 

"Who? Liv?" Katie asks.
