"Sounds accurate to me." I say, shrugging.

 

"Thank you. A lot has changed... sometimes I'm surprised that I can keep up. And I suppose the constuct Artemis was in reference to was the same one Stephanie was thinking of... mindwaves suggest the name Eve?"

 

"Eve is my robot, yes. She's designed for efficient killing at any distance, ranging from a simple assassination to taking down a gone-rogue hyper beast. She's...special to me." I explain.

 

"Stephanie's comments suggest she is closer to a cyborg. Robots cannot have true emotions."

 

The lightning bolts behind me fly towards Sivius.

 

"Well, technically, yes, very far removed though." I say.

 

They're deflected the same way.

"That's what I suspected."

 

"Though that is one of the reasons I'm not risking her in a fight against you," I say, "A man's hubris is his downfall."

 

"That makes you wiser than my scan reported." The construct comments. "The only thing in my databanks stronger than my shell is the doors to the chambers of a goddess named Xlentia."

 

"They reinforced that with godslayer weaponry that was made illegal." I say, shaking my head.

 

"All is fair in love and war."

 

"What's a god to a non-believer?" I say, shrugging.

 

"A god." It replies. "Non-believers are simply ignorant. There is no denying they exist."

 

"I was just quoting something I read." I say casually.

 

"I don't see how that quote is remotely appropriate to the conversation."

 

I decide to walk a bit around the moat, scoping the area.

Meanwhile, Crystal approaches the burnt vine castle belonging to the Mantis.

 

Artemis giggles slightly.

"I just do the thing that makes the words happen in the right way and roll with it." I say, shrugging.

 

The wall's pretty pitiful, looking something like the remains after a siege. Bits of rock stick out of the surface of the moat, the water itself distorting the view to make it look five times as deep- and the rocks inside five times as tall.

Some rooms are burnt, and a few guards work to cut off the weaker parts or the tinders from the supports. The Matriarch's still painting Aral'hrah.

Alice separates from you.
"Woah woah woah, hold on... Hey, you. What's your title?"
"My title? PRDT-310."
"Holy fucking shit..."
Alice quickly merges back into you.

"Aj, do not fuck with that thing." Alice thinks, panicked.

 

"Have you been deaf? I've said I wasn't going to get Eve to fight it." I respond.

Artemis puts an arm around me tightly, worried.

 

"Get him on your side. You may have remembered a few of my sisters saying that whoever's against Peridot is screwed? Yeah... that's Peridot."

"I don't understand the panic. Did I misinterpret something?"
