Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I wait for Crystal to wrap around me, then we take off following Rineth.

 

Mere contact cuts. Seems that there's also deep scratches in some of the gold coins and the solid alloy walls.

After another minute or so, you're back to the portal room.
"Is that all, or are they to go somewhere else before you return?" Rineth asks.

 

The wooden figure immediately steps back, before reconsidering it's options and heading to the front of Xlentia and attempting to get past through her legs.

 

"I'm fairly certain we just came here to see Xelentia."
I inform, landing.
"But you can ask them."

 

She's laying down, there's not enough room between the armor and the floor.

They silently step off.
"Guess that answers that."

 

The wooden figure tries going around the front of Xlentia.

 

"Thanks, Rineth. If you need anything, just ask."
I say, then walk closer to the group.
"Well, here we are. Just follow me."
I say, approaching and walking through the Maralune portal.

 

Rineth nods, leaving.

The group follows, a group of raptors waiting on the other side.

...Silence ensues.

Xlentia lays her head down to block off the other side of the room, amused.

 

Annoyed, the wooden figure heads back to Stephanie, becoming lifeless and floppy as Stephanie removes her hands from her head and picks it up. Stephanie telekinetically lifts the wooden figure over Xlentia, putting it into the gold pile.

 

"Do you need something?"
I ask, sincerely.

 

Xlentia lifts a wing, continuing to block the figure from getting into the gold pile.

"Nope."
"We tried a little bit of the food from the farm."
"We figured we should apologize for spying on you."
"It was so much better tasting than corpses!"

The humans just keep quiet.

 

Stephanie tries lifting the figure over Xlentia's wing, though her strain from holding a telekinetic connection from such a distance shows.

 

"Oh, so you guys are omnivores. That makes things a lot easier."
I say, and Crystal wraps off of me.

 

Xlentia, now audibly giggling, stands up to continue blocking the figure.

"Omwhatiwhat?"
"It was different."
"What?"
"Actual words, please."

The human group keeps quiet still.

 

"Oh, right, sorry. Omnivores are things that eat both plants and animals."
I don't pay any mind to the humans.

 

Stephanie tries to quickly sweep the wooden figure around Xlentia's wing.

 

She drops herself onto the figure, trapping it under a wing as she causes a few tremors while landing.

"What's an animal?"
"Makes more sense."
"Is animals another word for corpses?"
"Why're they still scared? They can go home now."

Half the group nods and heads back to town, the other half still frozen by confusion/fear.

 

Stephanie tries to free the figure, strain even more visible.

 

"An animal is anything living that's not a plant. The real definition gets a bit more confusing, but really that's all you need to know."
I explain.

 

She can't, barely even able to keep connection through Xlentia's wing.
Xlentia, fangs visible from smiling, glances out at the door happily.

"So, if it's not growing out of the ground, it's an animal."
"That makes sense."
"So corpses are animals?"
"No, dimwit, corpses are dead. Animals aren't dead."
