"She doesn't generally talk to people. You're lucky you managed to even meet her." I say once Artemis and I stop kissing.


"What's he been doing?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Why's that?"
I ask.

 

"Well, I cannot simply decline a challenge."

 

"Well, if you see my heart, let me know. Acts kind of like a black hole." Alice sighs.

"Apparently he's been mad at Tenebrae and has been spending a lot of time meditating to get over it. I've never seen him so worked up over anything before." Rineth shrugs.

Sivius smiles.
"You said anything goes, no?"

"It's like knowing there's something else out there, and it's so much bigger than you and you can't do anything about it if it decides to come around and kill you."

 

"Your heart?" I ask.


"The goddess of darkness? I don't think gods being mad at each other can bode well for...well, the wellbeing of the multiverse." Stephanie says worriedly.

 

"Yeah. Like, how Sapphire has her faux skeleton and Emerald has her books? I've got my heart."

"I wouldn't be too concerned. Virei'tus is probably the safest god to tick off."

 

"I'll keep an eye out for it." I say, shrugging.


"Isn't he the god of light and balance or something?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Thanks."

"High god of light, deity of Divine Judgement. He's like a court judge that acts as prosecution, defense, judge, and jury. All in one. Currently he's trying to get Tenebrae off his mind so he doesn't make a case against her."

 

"If he's a god of light, wouldn't that go badly for a goddess of darkness?" Stephanie asks.

 

"You're underestimating Tenebrae, though yes, her powers are mostly ineffective against him."

 

"That doesn't seem good if he's mad at her then. Do you know what she did?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Got impatient with a mortal. It's trivial, but it sure doesn't seem like it to him."

 

"That's...a rather small thing to get worked up over." Stephanie says.

 

"He said it's fine to be mad and it's fine to kill, but getting another god involved to go overboard and 'make a point' disgusts him."

 

"Another god?" Stephanie asks.

 

"He went on about how Tenebrae fetched Gaia to force a mortal to face unending pain, and can't blame Gaia for being coerced and instead is focusing all his anger on Tenebrae."

 

"Well, I guess you can kind of expect that for a goddess of the Shadows, right? I mean, Aj and my Shadow love torture, so I don't see why Tenebrae wouldn't." Stephanie says, shrugging.

 

"To throw a mortal who was unaware of the differences between realities back home as a withered wooden figure of them just pisses him off. I'm not taking sides; you asked why he was pissed, and that's what I know."

 

"Wooden figure..." Stephanie says, lost in thought.

Stephanie summons a small chunk of wood and a carving knife, before telekinetically cutting and carving the wood into what starts to look like a figure.

 

"On the bright side, you didn't need to try and pry anything out of Neal."
