"They're quite easy to make with simple materials. I like to use clay." Stephanie says happily.

 

"If they're that easy to make, then I have a feeling that no, he didn't use them simply because we don't know that they exist."

 

"Hm." Stephanie says, putting the mage crystal away.

 

"Anyhow... thanks for coming. Hopefully I last quite a while with your group."

 

"If our history is anything to show, you probably won't die or remain dead." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Fair point." Ali says, sipping her coffee.

 

"Most likely a ploy to get you to understand why you're killing the raptors."
I say to Craig.

 

Angela finishes her food.

"T-Thank you, Ali. The f-food was d-delicious." Angela says nervously.

 

"No problem! Sorry to hear Sapphire scared you again."

"I suppose that makes some sense. How that was enough to hide the actual intention is... depressing, actually."

 

"I wouldn't say so."
I retort.
"It's pretty easy to make lies about something when that thing repeatedly tries to kill everybody you talk to."

 

"She's s-scarier than the S-Shadows." Angela says worriedly.

"I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult..." I say, confused.

 

"...What?"

"I'm sorry to sound like I'm siding with her, but... she is right. You and Abigail are never here at the same time, and one leaves before the other appears." Ali says, slightly concerned. "Still, that's no reason to hound you. I'll talk to her about it later."

 

"If something's trying to kill you and your friend, and your friend says something bad about it, would you believe them?"
I ask.

 

"Ah, right. Good point, but... they're kind of justified in wanting to kill us in this case. I wouldn't want to put our dungeon prisoners what Ytir says he's gone through."

 

"Well, now's a second chance. Don't mess it up."

 

"T-That's just coincidence! I-I'm not a m-murderer!" Angela says nervously.

I laugh.

"Dog puns." I say, content.

 

"Someone gets it, FINALLY!" Ali sighs in relief, smiling.

"I hope I don't."
"That's not part of the plan, I think."

 

I shut off the book and walk into the hallway.

 

"Well then, should we introduce Ytir to more people now?"
I ask Craig.

 

I smile back, though Angela seems rather scared.

There's a slight tapping sound coming from Stephanie's direction as she seems to be idly writing in her journal.

"Do you mind?" Shadow Stephanie asks, narrowing her eyes at Stephanie.

"Hm? Oh, sorry." Stephanie says, the tapping sound stopping as she continues to write in her journal.
