Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis stares at it; her necklace glowing.

"Do you...want me to grow more of them?" Artemis asks.

 

"Make of it what you will. She entrusted three Voidwalkers with them as symbols of our status. They're now the only three that remain."
He looks at Ihra, still looking for something in the box.
"If you want, go ahead. Otherwise, see it as a mutual desire for trust."

 

The young girl next to me is trying to avoid Abigail, mainly by hiding behind me. And now Artemis too. She also looks a bit confused.

You suddenly notice the voice again.
Interesting helmet you have there... looks like the sort of thing I messed around with when I was young... except mine included the matter of life or death to the user.

 

Artemis picks up the flower and focuses, closing her eyes. Her hands start to glow green alongside her necklace.

The ground shakes a little, and Void Flowers begin to sprout. Only 4 manage to grow before Artemis stops. She seems a little drained.

"It's just a mimic of Abigail's; it can't do as much as hers, but still useful for watching cartoons and playing games." I think, taking of the helmet and de-summoning it.

Abigail sits up, looking a little more alert. Where horns once were on her helmet, there are now cat-like ears. Abigail doesn't seem to notice or care.

 

Do they work magically or otherwise? I have heard of non-magical items doing such things but I had more fun putting my soul in a carved figure of a myself and dodging spells while trying to fight a carved figure of a monster... luckily I had, and still have, a habit of not dying.

 

"It's a mix of both," I think, "It's magical in essence, and I've enhanced it's capabilities with magic, but things like the visor and headphones mainly use technology."

"I've sometimes possessed smaller figures to either challenge myself against smaller enemies, or to get into gaps or holes," I think, "It's rather fun, isn't it?"

 

Xephyr walks over to Abigail and smells her helmet curiously.
"Xephyr, be careful..."
"What? Is she hostile?"
"No, they're not used to us."
"Ohh... Sorry."

 

Abigail gives Xephyr an odd look.

"Uhh, why are you smelling my helmet, stranger?" She says, backing away slightly.

"Hey, Abigail." I half whisper, gesturing to the ears on her helmet.

Abigail takes off her helmet and looks at it, her red hair falling lazily as she does so, before pushing the ears down hastily. A pair of sharp-looking horns replace them.

Abigail laughs awkwardly as she puts her helmet back on.

 

Yes, it always has been. I've spent about... the last 10,000 years half my usual size. I got used to that... still, I can change my size any time I want.

 

"As can I; the boons of a malleable body are quite useful, aren't they?" I think, "Useful for sneaking through cracks or crushing your enemies."

"I wonder if this is just a voice in my head and I'm really going insane..." I think, more to myself than to the voice.

 

The voice chuckles slightly.
I would say yes to be funny if I hadn't gone insane myself at one point. I probably still am...
But anyway, I have an offer for you. Eras doesn't trust you, and neither does Idala. I know a way which might make him trust you more...

 

"Wait...who's Eras and Idala? And, more importantly, who are you, voice inside my head?" I think.

An image of an egg riding a pig made out of cuboids appears in my mind. I chuckle quietly to myself.

 

Eras is the one who you is annoyed with you because of the darkness you give off. Idala is the young girl. As for me... I like to keep that a secret usually... but if you insist, I am Daras.

 

"Alright, I'll try to remember that." I think, "So, what was this offer you were talking about?"

I let out a pulse of darkness, the area around me darkening slightly. I grin to myself.

 

Eras notices immediately. He just turns and glares at you darkly.
You know the young girl I mentioned called Idala? She happens to be my daughter. Make sure nothing bad happens to her. And make sure... make sure her reflection doesn't take over her. I know about your possessing powers, so if it tries to take control of her, you might be able to stop it by possessing her and fighting it. Just don't tell Idala or Eras I'm asking this of you, because Eras wouldn't trust you to protect her and Idala is scared of you.

 

"Her reflection? What do you mean?" I think.

 

She uses a powerful type of magic called Soul Magic. It isn't the sort of magic you learn but instead you are born with it. The problem is, you have to be linked with souls. Not only that, but there is a specific soul you are always connected to. This is the reflection, because it pretty much follows you wherever you go. The problem is, the reflection can be any soul. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are bad. Her reflection is power hungry and wants complete control of her... reminds me of what I used to be like. Hythania, my wife, made a potion which is designed to stop the reflection from doing anything for a while but it can't completely stop the reflection. There are ways we know of which could in theory stop the reflection, but they are extremely dangerous and our daughter might not want us to attempt them.

 

My eyes begin glowing red, and I look over at Idala.

"I see. Well, it's a fairly weak soul, in comparison to me. I could easily wrestle control over her if the soul would possess her," I think, "It'd be like John Cena bodyslamming a weedy little nerd who barely has the strength to stand."

I suddenly realise that John Cena isn't native to this world, and so Daras has no idea what I'm thinking about.

"I'm very powerful, is what I mean. I could take control of Idala and suppress the soul entirely," I think, "What are the terms of this reflection anyway? Artemis might be able to trap it inside a crystal if it's weak enough; though if it's tied to Idala, it might not work."

 

Sadly, it is pretty much tied to Idala. And it seems to be very strong compared to the average reflection... whoever the reflection belongs, or belonged to as I should say, was really powerful. I also have the feeling that it wants revenge on either me, Eras or Hythania. Or maybe even all three of us, though I would have no idea who they were if that is the case. And I'd rather you only try to attack the reflection if it tries to control Idala. Oh, and if you tried to take control over the soul, you would be permanently connected to her. As in, you would actually become her new reflection and your soul would be permanently attached to her.
