"Artemis keeps me stable." I say.

 

"That's... one way to put it, I guess."

 

"What do you mean?" I ask, suspicious.

 

"That question is redundant and you know it."

 

"Are you implying something SEXUAL hmm?" I ask, raising my voice.

 

"I wouldn't be the first to imply that." She says.

 

"B'Scuse me?" I ask.

 

She laughs.
"Just trying to get your mind off paperwork."

 

"Was it Xlentia? I bet it was Xlentia. Having dirty thoughts about Artemis and I..." I say, peeved.

 

"No, Artemis is meditating in a wheat field and Xlentia is somehow still amusing herself by exploring a dead plain."

 

"Hm. I should probably go see her to tell her about the meal." I say.

 

"Going to leave your other friends out of it?" Emerald asks. "Sorry for giving you a hard time, though."

 

"I plan to try and get everyone to come, if I can." I say.

"...Thanks." I say after a pause.

 

Emerald hesitates.
"...Pardon?"

 

"Thanks, for apologising for giving me a hard time." I say.

 

"I don't mean to sound like I'm still trying to, but... that's EXACTLY what Xlentia says when I'm done messing with her."

 

"Don't you think she means it sincerely?" I ask.

 

"I know she means it sincerely. She's like a big lonely puppy, just that only covers her behavior. Even if she gets riled up a bit, she loves to be given the spotlight."

 

"I think I prefur Onyx." I say.

"Uh, prefer." I correct after a slight pause.

 

I put the book back and check to see if there's a section about Xlentia.
