"You don't know where their house is?"

 

"No, he moved weeks before this whole crazy thing started."

 

"Alright. Well, I don't know if anything in the farm is technically edible yet, so you may want to drop by to eat something."
I mention.

 

"There's nothing left there."

 

"How long ago did you check the farm?"

 

"The harvest is in three weeks."

 

"What are you eating in the meantime?"

 

"I don't have anything. The only thing that didn't get messed up was sawdust... so I guess that."

 

"That's really not healthy. We just grew a lot of plants in the dead farm. Go check it out, find something to eat."
I suggest once more.

 

"But that harvest isn't due for weeks..." They respond, still uneasy.

 

"You were planning on harvesting dead plants and starving in the meantime?"

 

"We didn't have plans. The king's gone, the queen's gone, the crops were gone... I figured we would be gone."
Pause.
"Can you... keep a secret?" They ask, the door opening slightly.

 

"Yes, of course I can."
I say, peeking through the crack.

 

A boy in a robe as dark as Neal's is visible, tentacle stemming from their arm and slowly pushing the door open.
"Sis said she had everything worked out, but... she got killed off by some god. Now, you sure you can swear to keep this to only yourself?" He whispers.

 

I seems to think for a moment, processing something, before seemingly realizing something then looking back at the boy.
"I'm sure I can."

 

"That green haired girl ended up causing a brick to fall out. Mom and dad are dead, and I sent sis to go figure out what kind of god her friends serve. She... didn't make it back. However... I suppose now that I have nothing, I'll tell you our family secret." He admits. "Just... please don't kill me right here for it."

 

"Give me a moment." I say, opening a link to the ruins.
"Is Allen still sick?"

 

"I barely know you, kid, whatever it is, I'll leave you to yourself."
I say.

 

"I'm the heir to the throne. Not the figureheads, the puppetmasters. My family made the ruin, fully knowing what we did. Sis tried to trick your friend, to kill everyone to avoid you finding out her secret." He sighs.
"...but that doesn't matter to me, anymore. My family's dead, and I'm at your mercy. I just figured... there's nothing I can do. Family dynasty's overthrown. But, for all the truths we've replaced with lies over the years, I could at least give one back. Try and at least salvage myself from total damnation."

"Yes, and it's getting worse. Medicine was administrated, but adverse effects took hold."

 

"What'd you say you were going to eat without plants?"
I ask, not (metaphorically) bating an eye at what he said.
"Sawdust, right? I don't that's very healthy, go get some food."
I suggest once more.
