Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"W-who... is that?" He mumbles.
"Where are you?
Can't see you..."

 

"Hush. Just keep your voice down." I say, opening a portal to Xlentia's palace and bringing the both of us through.

 

"I... where's king..."
You step out into the hall, a few minute's walk from the lab.
...now that you think about it, it may be worth requesting that another palace room be dedicated to be a medical ward.

 

"I best make a mental note of that." I say, before going to the lab.

 

The researchers inside, without a word, just point you to a tube with an open lid filled with some sort of gel.
"Pre-diagnosis would accelerate recovery." One says, turning their head as a small implosion occurs in the test tube they're holding.

 

I telekineticly lift Ren up and place him inside.

"He was coughing up blood, vomiting, and I believe he had a serious headache. My healer says its probably a seasonal cold, and that his body is probably unable to handle it."

 

"Strange. Such a small thing shouldn't affect him." The researcher says, telekinetically closing the lid and pressing a series of buttons. "We'll get back to you on whatever's ailing him. Can you provide a traceable warp back to your kingdom for his return?"

 

"Just because a civilization is more evolved than you're used to doesn't mean they're a utopia. That, and utopias are impossibles with most creatures."
I retort.

 

"Okay, you know the drill. What's a utopia?"

 

"I'll just leave a portal open. I might have to return here again soon on some business." I say, closing the previous portal and opening a new one directly to my throne room.

 

They nod, going back to their work as the gel seems to be separating something from Ren's blood.

 

I go through the portal and call for an architect.

 

"Utopia, noun. An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. Emphasis on imagined."

 

"That sounds like what they tried to do with the respite."

A minute later, one runs in.
"Sorry, your majesty. Everyone's been working overtime repairing the airship fleet. What do you require?"

 

"I require one of the palace rooms to be turned into a medical ward. Although this is a personal request, I do not require that it be done at once."

 

"I will take note of it and look into the project. But, if you can pardon me asking, is the hospital a mere minute away from the palace appearing insufficient?"

 

"No, I believe it is useful, but should the palace be besieged by enemy forces while I am away, we would need a space for the wounded to be treated effectively. Not only that, but if a plague were to break out and the hospitals be overloaded, a medical ward within the palace will help in treating the many dying patients." I explain.

 

"Understood. I'll check my schedule and get back to you when I have an estimate for when it should be finished."

 

"Possibly. I wouldn't know, but they were probably going for more of something where they could actually live."

 

"Well... that too. I found a girl with a book that kept staring at me, though... I can't read, but I feel like the book told me that the ruin was a terrible side effect resulting from betrayal. At least, before she was turned to ash."
