Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, you don't have to. She's on my head."
Pause.
"Actually, I'm surprised you weren't interested in divine protection. Oh well!"
Xlentia lowers her head, Ragnyon being held by her tendrils.

"If you need a piece of paper saying we won't attack, then you're not trustworthy. However, I'll offer a compromise; I can convince the gods to grant you divine protection if you are willing to accept that our people do not need a contract to coexist."

The queen accepts the handshake, smiling.
"Yes, and it's nice to meet you, too. May I come in?"

 

"Certainly! Perry's currently asleep in her bedroom, so you might not want to disturb her." Charlie says, stepping aside to let the queen in.

 

I think about it for a second
"I accept, but you need to guarantee me that my people will be safe without me here."
I pause
"I can't afford to have another accident...."

 

"We will provide five Voidwalkers to serve as town guards during your absence."

She nods, stepping in.
"Just a quick kiss on the forehead. Where would her room be?"

 

"And how powerful are these 'Voidwalkers'?

 

"Up the stairs in the living room and to the right. The living room is just through here." Charlie says happily, leading the queen past the kitchen and into the living room. It seems most of the kitchen overlooks the living room, and glass sliding doors to the side of the living room appear to lead out to a large field, the sun beginning to make its way behind a dense forest at the end of the field.

 

"If neccesary, they can condemn a foe to Oblivion for eternity."

"Thank you." She says, following the instructions.
Upon reaching Perry's room, she's in there for a few moments before coming back downstairs.

 

"But can they take down 'something' immortal?

 

"What do you think will happen soon?"

Crystal checks to see if he can make out any islands.

 

"They can force it into stasis where Mistress Xlentia can erase them from past and future."

"We'll all starve and die?"

Just another continent in the distance.

 

"Very well. But tell them to only attack those who walk into my village without passing the trials." I comment

 

"I will have them ask you or your second in command the details."

 

"You're not going to do anything about it?"

Crystal enters the ocean, using water magic to steadily propel himself through the ocean to the other side.

 

"What can we do?"

More claw marks, and a big black lump visible off past a forest.

 

"Try."
I offer.

Crystal speeds up a bit, excited.

 

"How?"

Once Crystal gets to shore, the claw marks seem to stop at leaping distance from the forest.

 

"Try to survive. Is it really better to die wilting in your home than to go out and try to do something?"

Crystal decides to enter the forest, still moving forwards.

 

Silence.

The forest is fairly thick and hard to navigate. Crystal winds up losing his bearings about halfway through.

 

"Well? Is it?"

Crystal tries making a little earthen trail from the way he came.

 

Lily appears to be waiting downstairs with Charlie.

"Hello! I'm Lily, nice to meet you," Lily says happily, offering a handshake, "I'll be looking after your daughter, Perry, along with Charlie here."
