Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The queen removes her hand, revealing a gash that looks like it'd be from a guard's weapon.

 

Stephanie doesn't notice you, practising her pyrokinesis on a piece of dry wood, the top of the wood bursting into flame occasionally.

"Ah, that seems like a simple wound. Are there any others?" The doctor asks.

 

"No, but... are you going to bring my children in?"

 

I rap my fingers on the table, as to not scare her too much.

 

"Are they wounded too?" The doctor asks, vines starting to wrap around the queen's wounded hand.

Meanwhile...

Artemis steps back out of the portal into the throne room, looking for the children.

Stephanie glances over.

"Oh, hey!" Stephanie says happily.

 

They're huddled together, petting a raptor.

 

"Hey."
I start happily.
"Didn't want to scare you. Looked like you were focusing."

 

"Come with me, I can take you back to your parents." Artemis says, offering a skeletal hand.

"Yeah, the psychic arts tend to require that." Stephanie says, giggling.

 

One faints as the other lets out a scream and tries to flee through the hole Artemis busted in the wall.

 

I step out of Artemis once more.

"I'll handle this." I say, summoning a pair of gold rings, one with a plus symbol and the other a minus, slipping them on. A bright light surrounds me for a moment, before clearing as my body seems to have inverted colour, letting off a slight shine instead of taking in light, my skin bright white instead of pure black, and my eyes sky blue instead of blood red.

"What do kids like..." I say, seeming to transform into multiple different creatures and beings, before deciding on a large, stuffed bear, walking over to the child who tried to flee and smiling.

"Hello there! I'm Barnabas the Bear! What's your name?" I say with a different voice, much sweeter and kinder than normal.

 

This causes them to pass out and tumble down the stairs.

 

"God dammit." I say, switching back to my normal form before taking off the rings, changing back to how I normally look and teleporting mid-way down the stairs to catch the child.

Artemis picks up the other child, taking them through the portal as I take the child back up the stairs and toward the portal.

 

You feel watched as you head out with the children, but looking back you don't see anyone.

 

I close the portal as I exit, taking the child back to to elevator where Artemis dials in the code to the medical ward.

 

A stone is tossed through the portal just as it was closing. Other than that, nothing else strange happens.

 

I catch the stone, looking at it.

 

It's just a piece from a broken brick.

 

I toss the stone away before Artemis transports the children and I to the medical ward, and we take them through to the hospital.

After checking a few rooms, Artemis and I eventually find the room with the queen, bringing the children in.

"They uh, got really tired and fell asleep." I lie.

 

She looks at you, cross.
"What did you do to them? Plus, you left one."

 

"They passed out from fear. Aj, go find the last child." Artemis says commandingly.

I lay the child down beside the queen before disappearing.


I re-appear back in the castle, looking around for the third child.
