I stay quiet to see what they'll say

 

They turn to you first.
"What's your name? I have a feeling the little one is Ella's grandchild, but the other two I have no guess."
Zeal keeps quiet.

 

"My name is Naoto, chief of the kitsune. And you are?"

 

"Nice to meet you, Naoto. I'm Ragnyon. Would you like to peer into your future?"

 

Artemis gathers everything, de-summoning it and looking outside.

 

The respite boundary seems to be waivering.

 

"No thank you Ragnyon. That's not what I came for." I look around to make sure no one else is listening
"I want to sign a peace treaty with you."

 

"What do you mean? Are you conspiring against me?" She asks, surprised.

 

Artemis looks to see if it's expanding or shrinking.

 

"Not exactly. You see my kin are peaceful people and we rather not end up in a war that does not involve us. So I'm simply asking on behalf of my people that you do not attack us." I respond with a polite tone.

 

"Why would we attack you? We have bigger problems."

It's still waivering, but a little more waiting will...

...result in the sudden and complete collapse of the respite. The crops, grass, and garden plants in the farms and city wither at once.

 

Artemis seems shocked, stumbling back a bit as she watches it happen.

 

It happens so suddenly, everything withered and twisted within sixty seconds.

Below her, she can watch all hell break loose as everyone starts freaking out.

 

Artemis blinks, rubbing her eyes.

"T-This can't be happening. N-Neal was wrong?" Artemis says, shocked.

 

There's nobody nearby to confirm or deny.

 

Artemis disappears, returning to the Realm of Shadows as I separate from her.

"This is really bad." I say.

"I thought destroying the Inhibitor would spread the Respite! How did Neal get it wrong?" Artemis says, sounding a little panicked.

"To be fair we were working with what was essentially a coinflip. There were two possibilities, and we happened to get the one where the inhibitor actually did what everyone said it did." I say.

"But...how are we going to purge the Ruin? We can reverse engineer the inhibitor from what we gathered, but that won't do anything but return things to how they were in the human city!" Artemis says.

"Maybe the engineers could design a better inhibitor? Or harness the magic that made the Respite to make some kind of...cleanse-spray that replaces the Ruin with Respite?" I suggest.

"Ugh...I feel so terrible..." Artemis says mournfully, hugging me.

 

Sapphire seems to be working with her new puppets, visible somewhat far.

 

"Hey Saph!" I shout, waving.

 

The chimera looks at you, a serpent breaking iff accidentally and crashing in the ground.
"NO FUC-" Sapphire yells, interrupted by the crash.

Minutes later, she jogs up.
"Uhm... y-yes?"

 

"How are you doing?" I ask happily.

Artemis seems rather stressed.
