Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"If I say, I will be executed right here, right now. Whoever you're fighting for... you need to keep a lower profile. The royal family has been... smaller at the dining table as of late. If you care at all to salvage what life you can, I suggest... well... being careful. I can't say any more without getting executed."

 

"Very well. Where can I find the figureheads then?" Artemis asks.

 

"I... can't tell you."
He leans closer.
"But go upstairs."

 

"T-han-k y-ou." Artemis says almost silently, before looking for a staircase upwards.

 

The staircase is directly behind the guard, who gets an arrow run through his neck from seemingly nowhere.
"U-upstairs, a-and to the right... h-hurry..."

 

Artemis runs quickly up the staircase, and heads right using her life sensing abilities to see anyone hiding.

"Run." Artemis tells the raptor telepathically.

 

Tons of people, as well as a group of four seeming to be forced out of a nearby room.

They don't seem to be used to telepathy, confused as they narrowly dodge an arrow and flee into a tiny gap in the brick walls.

 

Artemis quickly scans over the people with her eyes, looking to see if they're dressed royally.

 

Their clothing seems somewhat regal, but it's hard to tell while narrowly ducking another arrow.
The raptor seems to have tucked themselves into a gap where a brick crumbled and was partially removed.

 

I nod, then start walking to Aral'hrah territory, looking for Aral'hrah.

 

You see Artemis heading to the kingdom in passing.
Akli'il seems a bit nervous, but at least he's cooperating. The first patrol you encounter runs over.
"Did you ever get your wife back?"
"Yes, I did. I came to speak to Aral'hrah."
"Oh? Then the robot can guide you where he is. He hasn't moved much."

 

I nod.
"Thanks."
I say, then make way to where I saw Aral'hrah last.

 

Akli'il follows, and Aral'hrah is still there.
"I thought he wouldn't cooperate?"
"I had a bit of a change of heart. You know how I feel about strength."
"...Interesting. So... are you willing?"
"I can spare 200. That's it."
Aral'hrah turns to you.
"Think you and your friends can work with that?"

 

"Certainly. It'll help a lot once we get a solidified plan. Until then, it'll be good to know that you lot won't be killing each other on sight anymore."

 

"That... does help with numbers."
"Helps with the sad nightly realizations we're down one or two."
"So... you'll work with the mantis, too?"
"She doesn't think much of me, but if I need to I'll try to suck it up for a bit."

 

"She seems fairly nice. Just, don't be mean around her."

 

"I hate formality, but again, I'll try to suck it up."

 

I nod.
"Aral'hrah, are you feeling okay? Never really got to ask you after your leg got better."

 

"It's still sore, but yeah. I'm fine."

 

"You didn't move much since I left. Are you sure?"
