Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

After a few hours, an intrusion is probably neccesary.

 

"Hello." Artemis says, loud enough to be noticed.

 

She closes the tome.
"What the hell...? How'd you find me up here?"

 

"I was simply exploring, and noticed you up here." Artemis says calmly.

 

"You must be with that robot." She says, still not making eye contact. "The royals are hard to convince, but I bet if you could get their trust, they'd crack. They've been outspoken by biased politicians who use the royal family as a figurehead. Because I learned something today that isn't in any book in the royal library..."

 

"What's that?" Artemis asks.

 

"The inhibitor works in the opposite way they describe. It doesn't keep the ruin out; it keeps the respite in."

 

Artemis seems shocked, "It's inhibiting the progress of the respite's spread!" She says.

 

The mage glares at her.
"Keep it down! But... yes. That's exactly it."

 

"Then I'll need a raptor, and my boyfriend." Artemis says confidently.

 

"...What?"

 

"When I went to seek out the royalty, they said they wanted a raptor that would obey me and lie still on a mat. If I can get a raptor to do that, my boyfriend and I can try and get to the inhibitor, and destroy it." Artemis says.

 

"I... guess that'd work. However, you risk my source being wrong." She warns. "I snuck in and overheard that, but with them, you never know."

 

"What's your name? Mine's Artemis." Artemis says, offering a handshake.

 

"Neal." She says, taking the handshake.

 

"It's nice to meet you, Neal. What sort of magic do you practise?" Artemis asks happily.

 

"I dunno. I'm supposed to be practicing elemental arcane crap, but I'm more into eldritch."

 

"One of my friends was...affected by the Eldritch gods. She looked rather different, and she started speaking in a strange tongue." Artemis says.

 

"Then she fucked up real bad."

 

"I don't think she did, actually. From what research I've done, I believe she'd spoken with the Eldritch gods, and they'd given her a portion of their power," Artemis says, shrugging, "Though I'm more attuned to Life and Death, so I don't know."
