Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis just waits, before seeming to reconsider her options.

 

The guards don't seem to be moving anywhere anyways.

 

Artemis puts her hands to her head, attempting to take over the mind of the most vulnerable guard.

 

She mind controls him easily, but it trips some kind of silent alarm as the other guards stand up and hold drawn bows at Artemis.
"Let him go or we shoot."

 

Artemis uses the guard to attack the others, the easy control giving her more manoeuvrability.

 

The mind controlled guard gets two kills before getting apprehended, and Arrows come at Artemis from just about everywhere she can be seen from the wall - which is most of it, at that.

 

Artemis dodges the arrows and uses her scythe to deflect them as she uses the close presence of the other guards to switch her control. Artemis' armour protects her from any arrows she fails to dodge or reflect, but a few still manage to hit her, causing the currently mind controlled guard and those around them to start to feel weaker.

Artemis uses the new guard to run into the walls, searching for some kind of drawbridge control.

 

She can't get any of the guards below the battlements, it seems.
She can, however, hear something roll up on the other side of the drawbridge.

 

Artemis suddenly completely changes her intentions, using two bursts of power.

With Artemis' first burst of power, she uses most of her own life energy, and a portion from the guards near to the two she killed to revive them.

With the second, Artemis wipes the guards recent memories through the one she's mind controlling, causing them to forget everything until Artemis decided to mind control a guard.

Her wounds bleeding heavily, Artemis uses her scythe to stay upright as she tries to alter the guards memories.

Artemis lets go of mind controlling the guard, "Ok, I won't mind control him." She says, putting her hands up innocently, before limping away with her scythe, weak, leaving a slight trail of blood.

 

It succeeds with all but the most weak-minded guard, causing them to pass out anyways.
"I mean, killing isn't mind controlling, but... in fairness, we'll let you go. If you come back, however, you will be attacked."

 

"I'm sorry. Is there any task I can complete to redeem myself? Shall I kill another criminal?" Artemis asks, trying to stay conscious.

 

"Hey, he's just unconscious!" Another guard calls.
"Oh, my bad. No need - we misjudged. Have a good day, miss, and watch out for whatever damn raptor did that to you." They say.

 

"Do you think you c-could direct me to a criminal t-to bring to you anyway?" Artemis asks weakly.

 

"No. There are no humans outside the kingdom; even our attempts at diplomacy have been torn asunder by talon and blade."

 

"S-Surely there are more raptors like the one who tore up the marketplace, though?" Artemis asks, a pool of blood forming at her feet.

 

"No others got in, that we know of."

 

"Ok...I'll wait to...help you again...I guess..." Artemis says, before turning to leave, looking close to collapse.

 

One of the guards draws their bow.
"Miss, don't move. There's a Mantis eyeing you." They warn.

 

Artemis stays still, holding her scythe tightly.

 

The guard fires, arrow sticking into a tree as Artemis hears something run off.
"Be careful out there."
