Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Noted."
I say, affirmatively.

 

"Just giving a better sense of me is all." I say calmly.

"What?" Abigail says, looking at me oddly.

"I said: 'Doctor, I'm afraid of backstories.'" I lie.

"When did this all start?" Abigail replies.

"Well, it started when-AAAAAAH!" I scream.

Abigail and I laugh.

 

She nods.
"I care for her, but it'd be best if she let the fallen lie. She needs to learn to live on her own. Rineth too is a summon."

"Let's hurry... I hope they didn't turn on Ihra."

 

This apparently angers me, but I keep my calm and respond. "I am running out of time. I need to get back before 4 hours have passed."

I run over to Riihs and Vei. "Both of you, I need to ask a request, and I beg that the both of you may accept." I look at my pocket watch, and I start panicking. "First off, Riihs, can you use your True Sight to see what this gauntlet does?" I show the gauntlet that I detached from Luxphys's body. "Next, Vei, please, I need you to slow down time. Please. I need to finish something in 4 hours, and I don't have enough time anymore. Please, I beg of you to grant me this request"

OOC: For the sake of Riihs's True Sight, I am going back to the stronghold to perform a spell that will force my soul into another body using necromancy. And no, my character doesn't know necromancy, but he has some hidden books about some spells.he specifically remembered one of them, which is the reason why his old body was still walking around even without a soul.

 

"I see," Darnth says, "I'll be leaving when Artemis is out of danger. I feel terrible for leaving her to fend for herself all those years; luckily a friend of mine found her and took care of her."

Darnth seems a little sorrowful, "You can't change the past though, you can only try and better the future." He says, looking at Artemis and smiling.

"Back to where, may I ask?" Darnth asks politely.

 

"My stronghold"

 

Riihs looks at the gauntlet flatly, then utters; "It seems to be the remains of someone. Bring it to Ihra."

Vei looks skeptical.
"Maybe. Come back when the deadline is closer. Two hours left, maybe."

OOC: How much does 'true sight' see?
The gauntlet contains part of Luphyx's soul; it's essentially a horcrux. It serves as the anchoring point in the physical world that Luphyx uses, since he is mostly energy and nothing else. If someone put it on, it would leech away their energy until it could sustain on its own.

Riihs can say however much he sees of that.

 

Darnth thinks for a moment, before walking over to Abigail and I.

"Suddenly, Pineapples!" Abigail says, laughing.

"Aj, may I ask a favour of you?" Darnth asks.

"Oh, sure. What is it?"

"The half-demon needs to get back to his stonghold, he doesn't have time. If you could take him there, I, and I'm sure he, will greatly appreciate it."

"Are you sure? I don't really trust him."

"Father has your back, Aj. If anything bad happens I'm sure he'll be able to help you." Artemis says happily. Darnth nods in agreement.

"Alright." I say, walking over to the wooden Rob.

"Pack your things, we're going to your stronghold." I say.

"What you did is honourable," Darnth says, "We both died for the sake of our loved ones; there's no shame in that."

 

He knows. That's why he said to hand it to Ihra.
"No...

"You don't know the cost."

 

"I only know the grief it causes; I'm sure you're different, however. I'd appreciate it if you could inform me of the cost." Darnth asks politely.

 

She grabs a blue sphere from the robe of her corpse.
"This. This counts every life I've taken. Every family I've destroyed. Everything I had to end to keep my will."
The orb rotates between images of worlds, colossal gods, armies... then shows the same number etched onto her blade;
Well over three trillion.

 

Darnth's expression doesn't change, "So what interaction does your death have with your orb? Or is it simply something to store memories?" Darnth asks calmly.

 

"I can know what age I am."
She pulls out a similar orb. The only difference is the number; less than a third of the number.

"Every number is a story. My curse is that I remember every one of them."

"Well, this is from twenty thousand years prior..." She mutters, inspecting her wing.

 

"If the killing was just, you have no reason to feel bad about what you've done. If it was meaningless slaughter, however, then I don't doubt you'd feel bad about it," Darnth says calmly, "As I said, you can't change the past, only try to better the future."

"I understand why your daughter wouldn't want to see you in the form closer to your death," Darnth says.

In a brief flash of green light, Darnth changes. Large cuts are visible around his limbs and neck, and a large hole pierces his chest where his heart would be.

"It's bad enough Artie was given my head, I don't want her to see the rest." Darnth says sadly, changing back.

 

"I don't know what my justification was. Still, I wish your story was better. It explains how Artemis acts from time to time."

 

"Hopefully not..."
I fly into the air and in the direction of where we think Ihra might be. Idala, reluctantly, follows me.

 

"She's a troubled girl," Darnth says, "She never knew her mother. She was taken when she was only a year old. I believe it was the same people who were behind my death. I tried all I could to stop them, but..."

Darnth seems to have trouble speaking, "She was...drained of her magic. Used in a summoning ritual with the other guardians in an attempt to summon the God of Shadows," Darnth says sadly, looking over at me. I laugh with Abigail, "When I died, my friend, Kyrae, sort of stood in as her mother. I knew I could trust her; she trained Artie well."

"I don't hold it against Aj. It wasn't his fault; I'm glad Artemis is with him. He's a powerful shadow, and he'll do well to protect my daughter." Darnth says, looking back at Vei, trying to smile.

 

You see the group arguing with each other and Rineth meets you partway.
"They're not getting along well with each other. Ihra's fine, but Vei... Well, I'm hoping AJ learned his lesson."

"Is AJ a shadow god...?" Vei mutters.
Ihra stares into Darnth's eyes, then does the same with Artemis and Abigail.

 

"I'm actually not sure. He says he's a high level shadow, and he doesn't seem to be lying, but maybe he's more than that." Darnth says, giving me a sceptical look, "You can't tell with those types.".

Darnth looks back at Ihra, smiling. Artemis tries her best to smile, though she seems rather unnerved. Abigail stares right back with a distant look.
