"Why don't you call one of the ones down there?" I point to the pack of dragons on the edge of the forest

 

She keeps fighting, as fluid as water, until...


With the power siphoned from the shadow within the toxin, Nyx fills the barrier Virei'tus has containing the shadow fill with the toxin.
Virei'tus telepathically links with Eve.
"You're immune to the toxin, being a robot. Keep Aj inside of you and you'll outlast that... thing."

"Could it alert the guards?"

"I don't know their names. I haven't been here before."

 

"But you said your grandma was friends with one of them. So shouldn't you at least know one of them?"

 

"I said, I forgot their name."
Pause.
"Lemme try this." Anne says, getting ready to throw a fireball at the group.

 

The Shadow seems to be affected by the toxin for a bit, before it's eye's turn a deeper red, and it seems to adapt. The toxin mutates to a much darker colour, and the Shadow begins drinking it before throwing it back to Nyx, the toxin now out of her control.


Eve puts her hands together, and a large rocket launcher forms in them, firing a large rocket that homes in on the Shadow and explodes, disorienting the Shadow for a moment.

 

"I don't think that's a good idea." I say preparing a thunder spell when the dragons attack

 

"It's likely. It's a problem as to how they might alert, though."

 

The corrupted toxin seems to just... be water.


Virei'tus takes the opportunity to smite the berserk shadow with a blast of light energy that triples that of a light pulse rifle.

Anne throws the fireball, and only one comes over.
"You must be Ella's grandchild?" It asks.
"Yes, I am."

"And if it's magic, we could never know until it's too late." Ytir adds.

 

I still have my thunder spell ready in case of an attack

 

The Shadow takes a heavy hit, before sinking into the water. The water becomes black, freezing over as the Shadow forms out of the water, even larger than before as even his slightest movements cause massive earthquakes. The Shadow slaps a mighty fist against the barriers trapping him, immense force and power being delivered onto it.

 

"Who's your friend?"
"Not really a friend. They're some kitsune leader."
The dragon hesitates.
"And what would the great Naoto be doing way over here?" They ask, unhappy with your presence.

 

I nod.
"That's another problem."
I look around for Aral'hrah, just to check.

 

"So you know who I am." I ask with great displeasure
"Since you know who I am, what is your name?"

 

The barriers don't even so much as vibrate from the force next to them, or the attempted earthquake generation.

Nyx tries reaching out to you.
"Can you have your robot electrocute them?"

"Laze. And everyone knows you - how could we forget the one who killed the queen?" Laze snaps.

He's not quite back yet, it seems.

 

"Hmm, I didn't kill your queen. She tried attacking my village and hurting my people. I simply defended them." I snap back

 

"We should wait for Aral'hrah and Akli'il before finalizing anything."
I suggest.

 

"I'm working on it!" A mix of Eve and my own voice responds.

Eve fires a blast of fire out of one hand, and bolts of electricity out of the other. The Shadow melts slightly, the electricity sparking through him, before he seems to just disappear. Eve looks around quickly, scanning for the Shadow.

 

Nyx fires a plume of her toxin behind Eve, trying to cover her back.
"Now, earth magic. If he adapts, maybe we-well, you, can outcycle him."

Virei'tus, curious, also scans as he reinforces the barrier.

"Fair point..."
"...but until then?"

"She never left home." They retort. "You want proof? Kitsune magic radiates from her corpse - which we never moved from her cave. You are free to look at it yourself if you'd like a reminder..."

 

Oddly, there's nothing inside the barrier anymore.

Eve takes flight, searching over the area for the Shadow.

 

"We've got over two thousand soldiers, surely one of them's cocky or brave enough to possibly face a gauntlet."
