"What do you mean? It felt great!" Anne grunts.

"I only want those that killed my parents."

 

Onyx seems saddened, but can't think of anything kind to do for the dagger-user.

 

"That's what I'm worried about."
I admit.

"Well, aren't there people that take it, like, really seriously even though they aren't a part of it, then they get super mad about it?"

 

"Hey, it's fine, I said."

"If I do, what will you do?"

"Oh, yeah. The polite term is superfan, but they're... something, all right."

 

Onyx jumps onto the dagger-user's shoulder, rubbing up against their face and purring, trying to make them feel better.

 

"Stand still and let them do to you whatever you deserve."

"But is that right?"

 

He pets her.

"Which..."
"Would be killing you."

"Yeah, you're right."

 

"It'd be unfortunate to save you only to let you die immediately afterwards."
I point out.

"That's weird."

 

Onyx enjoys being pet, trying to comfort the dagger-user as best she can.

 

I look around the village for a suitable building to use as the seat of government.

 

Eklir shrugs.
"Such is the cycle."

"It is, but people tend to react strongly."

He seems stoic, but progressively less hostile.

There... seems to be absolutely nothing viable to use.

 

"Doesn't mean you get to go kill yourself now."

"People are weird."

 

"If I take her down with me?"
The Mantis guard seems to form a wall between Eklir and the Matriarch.

"Indeed."

 

Onyx eventually just rests on the dagger user's shoulder, content.

 

I look around for a suitable plot of land.

 

"Then you successfully did nothing to help anyone. And if you fought back I'd probably kill you myself. It's very simple, really, just don't wake her up."

Crystal turns his attention to the next event, whatever that may be.

 

"I never said I wanted to help, but okay."

The athletes seem to slowly be gathering again, nothing much happening yet.

There is no empty plot that's bigger than one of the small huts. That's probably why there's no city hall or anything.

He occasionally pets her, otherwise just walking silently out of the practice room.

 

"Then why do you kill humans?"

Crystal just watches, and waits for the next event.

 

Onyx purrs when pet, trusting the dagger user.

 

"Wh-what? What do you mean it felt great?!" I ask with great concern
