"Me slapping you? It was me making sure I could still stand in that place without being hunted down."

"Hey, you got second place! That's nothing to be sad about."

 

"You're wanted too?"

"I guess. I can't complain with a personal best performance." They chuckle. "Anyhow, coach is probably going to want to talk to me. Thanks for watching, you two!"

"Can you ask him if he can meet me in the library? I've got some... sad news he might not like, and I think only Katie and Myria knows about it so far."

 

"No, but I would be if I didn't pretend that I was going to kill you. That involved slapping you when you wanted help from me."

"No problem! It was fun to watch."
Crystal smiles.

 

Onyx nods, though she seems a little saddened too.

 

"Still hurts." Eklir grumbles.

Number 10 waves as he jogs back down the bleachers.
"You handled that well, Crystal." Linoa compliments.

"Xephyr, one of the draconians who travelled with him and Ihra, recently passed. I just want to make sure the news got to him." Sapphire sighs.

 

"Sorry, but, you must've known that was risky."

"Thanks."
Crystal smiles once more.

 

"oh..." Onyx says, sounding depressed.

 

"I didn't exactly expect to come out."

"Well, what's next?" Linoa asks, looking for the pamphlet.

"It'll be okay... she had a good life." Sapphire tries to reassure Onyx. "It's just important that he knows, so he isn't surprised if he asks for Xephyr and she's..."

 

"Well, you did, so it worked out."

Crystal realizes he was holding it this entire time, and takes it out once more.
"Uhh... sprints and long jumps."

 

"shes chasing yarn in the big bubbles in the sky now..." Onyx says, recovering.

 

"Ironically, I was kind of hoping to be done with you."

"How did- oh." Linoa sighs. "Alright, then."
Muffy's somehow still asleep.

Sapphire opts not to comment.
"Just... please make sure it gets to Aj. I need to go do something for another friend here in a minute."

 

Onyx nods, smiling at Sapphire.

 

"Thanks. Sorry to trick you, too. I, uh..."
Pause.
"Have a good day." She says, getting up and cloaking as she leaves.

 

"Why do you dislike me?"

"Do you want this?"
Crystal says, offering the pamphlet and waiting for the sprints to start.

 

"You seem to forget that I was raised with the hatred of humans. If you are made to be better than them, better than a human... I don't see why you aren't like them, and why I shouldn't hate you."

"Please." Linoa says, taking it and reading it over again as athletes slowly pour out and start jogging around the track.

 

"Maybe you can take a second and realize that having a prejudice for most things isn't the way to go about life. You aren't defined by how you grew up, you are defined by what you do."

Crystal pays attention to the athletes.

 

Eklir hesitates.
"Maybe where you come from, and maybe when this world changes. But right now? You're wrong."

They just seem to be doing a couple warmup laps.

 

"Elaborate."
I offer.

Crystal just continues to watch them.

 

"Kill or be killed."

Eventually, they split up into two groups; one keeps jogging/walking around the track as the others start to gather around a sand pit.

 

"You and the mantis folk aren't killing each other. You and the mantis folk aren't being killed by each other."
I point out.

Crystal focuses on the sand pit group.
