Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Nobody stops her.

 

She does so with all five, closing the portal and not returning.

 

Meanwhile...

A mischievous black cat explores the void palace library, climbing up the bookshelves and occasionally knocking books down.

 

They constantly just right themselves, telekinetically.

 

"I will."
I reassure, before flying of in search of Eklir.

"Yeah!"
Crystal agrees.

 

Onyx tries holding onto one as she knocks it down, curious.

 

You don't have to fly far to see that the marketplace is an absolute wreck.

Linoa smiles, a bit startled as a flare gun goes off, athletes gathering near a paved strip in front of the throw range.

She's pulled up near the shelf, then set on a table as if whatever it is knows there's something on the book that would make it not fit on the shelf.

 

Onyx just runs back to the bookcases, looking for any empty spaces to hide in.

 

I fly to it, landing, and looking around.

Crystal is a bit startled by the gun as well, looking upon the athletes.

 

There's only empty spaces where books aren't on the shelf. Everything's chock full, though...

Most of the market stalls are destroyed, the city guard forming a perimeter around the marketplace as you can see a blood-soaked raptor ripping its way out of a collapsed tent.

They seem to go on the strip one at a time with a javelin, stopping and throwing it before they reach the line at the end of the pavement.

 

I briskly walk over to the raptor, making sure to walk on debris to crunch it and make a sound.

Crystal continues to watch, attentive as to who wins.

 

Onyx decides to sniff the air and look around the people in the library, looking for fish, loose threads on clothing or, hopefully, yarn.

 

They snap their head.
"Hey, would you mind getting me out of here?!" He demands. (Definitely Eklir)

It seems this was just attempt one. Once the athletes finish throwing once, a runner places flags and retrieves the javelins before the process repeats.

There's a few guardians and shadows, but back to a normal amount of draconians. There are a few other races, including an elf or two and some less bloodthirsty chimera, but no loose strings, fish, or yarn.
She does smell fish a long distance away, though.

 

Intrigued, Onyx follows the scent, dashing toward it.

 

She's telekinetically caught before she leaps off the fifteenth floor.
"Careful, kitty." Emerald says telepathically. "There's stairs for a reason."

 

Onyx looks down for anything soft to land on, before giving up and deciding to sprint down the stairs, before running toward the scent.

 

The softest thing is probably a pile of hardcovers...

The scent leads to the mess hall, kitchen in particular.

 

I slap him across the face.
It's not a hard enough slap to break anything, but it's hard enough to hurt a lot.
"And why the hell should I help you?"
I ask, then mouth "Play along."

Crystal still pays attention as to who wins.

 

Onyx sniffs around the kitchen, trying to find the fish.

 

He scowls.
"Because I'm dead if I stay, dead if I run, and you can fly!" He shouts, loud enough for the now surprised guards to hear.
"Did it just...?" You can hear a few mumble.

By the end of round 1, number 7 is winning, then 4 at the end of round 2, and 10 by the third. It seems that whoever is winning by the third round is what counts, as the other athletes go inside as number 10 stays outside in a shaded tent.

The kitchen scents are simply too strong to pinpoint anything.
A draconian almost steps on her.
"Woah... sorry, kitty! Didn't see you there."
